Rates on a Washington Mutual Secured Credit Card?

Ive had bad credit ever since my business went under, between bills that had pilled up, taxes, not being able to pay rent, etc. Im finaly done bleeding & starting down the road of repair. My Dad is willing to help me out. Our first plan was for him to cosign on a major credit card with me, which appearently a highly standard process CC companies just dont do anymore. So now we're looking at a secured card that hed loan the deposit for. Reading online every article says to shop around for the lowest fees and rates. We bank at Washington Mutual and our branch has always provided GREAT customer service to us & know my situation well. Wamu offers a secured card, the problem is in aspect of shopping around for rates & fees I cant seem to find Wamus stats anywhere, so I dont know if I should go with them or go with something I found online that I know has good rates.

So my question is, does anyone have a wamu secured CC that could tell me what the rates and fees are? Potential interest?

WAMU charges an annual fee of $39, the rate is 17.99%

What is the best bank for personal savings and checking accounts???

I am looking to move all of my personal savings and checking accounts into a new bank because going to the small credit union I currently use is very inconvenient.

I want to find the best, preferably nationwide, bank for personal accounts. I live in TX, in The Colony but work in Carrollton and frequently go to DFW Airport for business. I have only about 50k in savings and want to start paying bills online. I would like free checking and ATMs too. I want a bank that isn't heavy on the fees and has good operating hours.

The banks I know that are in the area are Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Century Bank, Washington Mutual and Chase.

Any ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated since I don't have the time to do my own research. Thanks in advance!

My vote is for Bank of America!

I applied on bank of america online, does that mean I have an account already?

I applied online but they didn't tell me if I had an account or not. It just said that they would email me in the next 2 business days. I actually regret opening it, because afterwards I tried with washington mutual and I got the account. So now I don't want the debit card from bank of america, can I cancel by any chance?

Here is a thought.
Why not keep both accounts open?
That is if they do not charge fees.
That way you can see which bank you like better.
Always ask if there are any fees when closing accounts.
My bank charges $25 for closing an account by phone, but its free if you close it in person. Who knows why!!!

Bank Lost My ATM Deposit. What can I do?

On October 22, 2008 I made a deposit into an ATM at a Washington Mutual Branch in Spokane, Washington. My deposit was $786.22 (consisting of my paycheck: $686.22 and $100.00 cash). On October 26th I checked my account balance online and discovered that the deposit was deducted from my account, claiming that I had deposited an empty envelope. I talked to the bank and they told me their records indicated that the envelope was indeed empty, and there was nothing they could do but file an inquiry with the head office which could take 5 to 10 business days. I can't wait that long. This is my paycheck were talking about and I have rent due in a couple of days.

I went to my work and they contacted their bank and found that the check had cleared. They even got me a printout of the check with this particular branches stamp on it, clearly showing that they did, in fact, receive and process the check. I don't know where the money ended up, but it definately didn't go into my account. I don't have any proof regarding the cash that I deposited with the check, but I think it's safe to assume that it went wherever the rest of the deposit went.

I showed the documentation proving that the did get my deposit to the bank and they are still refusing to fix their mistake. They're saying that they still can't credit the money back to my account until they figure out what they did with it, which as i said earlier, might take as long as 10 business days.

It's now October 30. My rent is due in two days, and I have been almost completely broke for almost a week now because of their mistake. I have proof that they screwed up and they still aren't fixing it. Is there anything I can do or do I just have to wait and hope they figure it out. There has to be some kind of law relating to this. If anyone knows of any laws or legal action that I can threaten them with, please let me know. I need to get this figured out ASAP. Thanks.

Call an attorney! If they know they can win the case they will take it and wait to get paid after the case. Also, call the Better Business Bureau and make a claim against the bank. That is sooo messed up. You shouldn't be forced to pay for their mistakes.
Also have you tried just wailing on them? A few months ago my bank cut off my debit card without notifying me because they said I had made suspicious charges (it was at walmart in my town. What's suspicious about that?!). I called them and just b!tched for like 15 mins, because I was going to leave for my honeymoon in 2 days and would not even have known that I didnt have access to my money. At first they told me they couldnt turn my card back on, but by the end of it, I had my card turned back on. Sometimes just being an all out b!tch does wonders.
I don't know how far that will get you, but definitely try calling around to some different lawyers for advice.

The PR War « The Baseline Scenario

Every major bank other than Goldman Sachs must be ecstatically happy that Goldman exists, soaking up all the attention with its escapades in Greece and Italy. The other banks, by contrast, are trying to make themselves out to be white knights. See, for example, JPMorgan’s ad today in multiple major print newspapers describing its commitment to small business lending:

Like that picture of small-town America?

The main claim is in the second paragraph: a commitment to lend $10 billion to small businesses in 2010. These kinds of marketing claims are difficult to verify. But I gave it a shot.
