Ok, I'm totally confused because I just logged into my TCF bank account online. It said my balance was $1,319.70 including pending transactions.
So I went through my check book and subtracted any outstanding checks that I have and any amounts I intend to spend before I deposit any more money and my calculator said -$91.38!!!
I knew there was NO way this could be. So I took the balance ($1,319.70) and added all transactions that were already showing online as posted. Then I subtracted my latest deposits, all dating back until the 19th, which was the last time I have a slip showing my last known balance. (TCF doesn't do a running balance online, only shows the current balance).
Anyways, through careful memory I realized that "negative" $91.38 was actually 3 seperate transactions from yesterday and today ($82.17, $8.21, and $1 hold from a gas station).
So, why does it say online that my balance is as of 5/23/07 10:45 PM but it is not showing those transactions?
Also, I started this new checkbook register as of the 19th, so what if the balance on the 19th was incorrect like how the balance is incorrect now? How do I calculate the TRUE amount of money I have?
You're in luck. I use to work for TCF. The online banking is a day behind. I believe they update your transactions at midnight so your balance will have transactions deducted that aren't posted in detail til the following day. I just logged on tonight to check my account and it's all messed up so I think they may be having computer problems because when I usually log on it shows me transactions I did on my card right away and all I have to do to balance my account is subtract checks I wrote from the balance. Tonight they are not showing up. Hope this helps.
I need to see if I still have money on my TCF Bank visa gift card, but I don't know where the nearest TCF Bank is.
You can check it at following web address:

My mom checks her online banking account daily to check her balance and transactions, but tonight there was a huge problem. It says she is at -136$, but there's no way that can be correct. Monday she deposited $1000 which was posted immediately, and she hasn't spent that money yet. Actually, all of her transactions past July 11th aren't there (they were yesterday.) This can't be right even if everything past the 11th was removed since even then she had about $6 in the account. Is this totally just an online banking error or is this something we'd need to bring to their attention?
If it matters or not, it's through TCF Bank.
It could be just a computer bug in the site (sometimes when they do maintenace late at night you see strange stuff) OR it could be another victim of the internet (it's not very safe to do Online Banking if your computer is infected with spywares).
Wait for the morning and check again. If the problem is still there then it's time to RUN to the bank.
I check my bank balance online (TCF bank) and $2 was taken out of my account. It says "non-et non-tcf atm fee". I have not used my debit card at all in the past 2 weeks and this charge was put on yesterday. I know what the non-tcf atm fee means, but I don't understand what non-et is. Anyone got any clues? I plan on calling my bank tomorrow, but in the mean time I figured I'd ask on here.
It usually means that it is an ATM that is not in a TCF bank but it is still "approved" for use by TCF customers with no fee. Since it is "non", there is a fee.
In banking "ET" usually stands for electronic transfer of funds. But this is not a transfer. Someone took money out at an ATM. But you are only showing the fee but no withdrawal. So it would be charged when you use your debit card like a credit card at a merchant's store. You are not showing a purchase at that time, so this charge is a mystery which TCF will probably remove.
