How does this work? Does the bank mail a check to the person you want to send it to?
I go through PNC bank.. do they charge anything for this?
With my bank...I set up a person or company as a merchant and I pay them. The bank gets the information, withdraws the funds from your account and sends the person a check. I use online payments for 99% of my bills.
It is not on the PNC website, it's a third party "bill aggregator" that lets you pay your PNC Mortgage bill. They make you use this third party aggregator if you don't have a PNC checking account.

I have money in my account, i just need to transfer some money into her account. I am with bank of america, and she is with pnc
Yes, you can do it right online. Once you are logged into the online banking, click on the "Transfers" tab. You will see two options from there, "Inside the bank" and "Outside the bank". Click on "Outside the bank." If it is your first time, you will be asked to verify your email address and to agree to the Terms and Conditions.
From there, If you have never transferred to her in the past, you will need to add her account first. At this point you will see that the "Transfers" tab is still at the top. There will be some subtabs underneath it. Click on the subtab that reads "Add Account". From there, you just have to provide information such as your mom's account number, etc. Once you have done that, it is pretty self explanitory. You select from drop down menus as to which accounts you want to transfer to and from, how much, etc.
Just remember that if you need to transfer more than $1000, you will need to sign up for a security feature called "SafePass" first. If that's the case, click on the "Customer Service" tab. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on "Add SafePass security to your account". It walks you right along from there. The whole concept is that whenever you are doing high risk activity, Bank of America will send a text message to your cell phone with a code. You have to verify the code in order to continue with the transaction.
Since PNC bought National City, and I want to stop mailing payments to PNC bank, would I be able to add PNC as a payee on my National City online account?
