Who is my "administrator"? I had no problem earlier logging on and it seems to be a problem with my computer and not the banking website. Can anyone help?
My window firewall is on. Nothing changes since earlier. What is my "network"? My internet provider?

How do I remove drivecleaner 2006 and know the tool I am using is completely safe, will work and won't wreck my PC? eg is spyware-remove.com genuine?
I have no current issues or anything odd happening but could drive cleaner compromise security of e.g online banking?
Use Ccleaner to remove Dcleaner, then run all your anti spyware and an anti virus in Safe Mode.
Only use software tested and recommended by;
Official Windows XP Magazine
Computer Active Magazine
WebUser MAgazine.
Before attempting to remove malware you must switch off System Restore as back up files will be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore.
Run your anti virus and anti spyware in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.
Then beef up your security. Its easier to prevent malware getting on to your sytem in the first place rather than trying to remove it. All the following programs are free for personal use;
You need to install one firewall.
The Windows firewall doesn't stop malware on your pc from dialling out.

online banking security
Try Norton Anti-virus or Norton 360.
i receive scam emails daily - usually to bulk folder and not addressed specifically to me from various banks advising me to sign it etc etc. i always ignore them however today i have received two emails to my in box from the two banks that i am actually with.
Is this just a coincidence? should i be concerned?.
To be honest it has put me off online banking. What should i do? Is it ok to log onto my accounts in the normal way i.e they are in my favourites on computer.
You're going about this the correct way by ignoring the e mails. For this reason you should not be concerned. A useful way of dealing with online banks is to open a special e mail account (lots of free ones with Yahoo, Google, etc), just for dealing with your bank.
If you want some easy security tips for banking (and for passwords in general), see this article:
My bank keeps asking me if I want to do the online banking. I keep saying no. I am concerned about the security of online banking. I know sending checks in the mail can be a risk to. However, I just think its a bigger risk putting your personal information on the world wide web for someone to gain access to. Is it logical to feel this way?
It's completely logical. I'm the same way. I won't do any kind of banking or bill paying online. I still pay my bills the old fashioned way.....the check's in the mail. Online banking is not a risk I'm willing to take.
