Removing drivecleaner (trojan) / Online banking security?

How do I remove drivecleaner 2006 and know the tool I am using is completely safe, will work and won't wreck my PC? eg is spyware-remove.com genuine?

I have no current issues or anything odd happening but could drive cleaner compromise security of e.g online banking?

Use Ccleaner to remove Dcleaner, then run all your anti spyware and an anti virus in Safe Mode.
Only use software tested and recommended by;
Official Windows XP Magazine
Computer Active Magazine
WebUser MAgazine.

Before attempting to remove malware you must switch off System Restore as back up files will be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore.
Run your anti virus and anti spyware in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.

Then beef up your security. Its easier to prevent malware getting on to your sytem in the first place rather than trying to remove it. All the following programs are free for personal use;

You need to install one firewall.
The Windows firewall doesn't stop malware on your pc from dialling out.
http://www.zonelabs.com Zone Alarm firewall OR
http://www.comodogroup.com/ - Comodo security suite.

You need to install one anti virus;
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/ 2/ -AVG anti virus or
http://www.avast.com - Avast Antivirus

You need all three anti spyware programs;
http://www.ewido.net - AVG(Ewido) anti trojan.
http://www.lavasoft.com - Ad-Aware SE Personal anti adware
http://www.safer-networking.org - Spybot Search and Destroy anti spyware. Use the Teatimer settings to protect Internet Explorer, and the Immuniser to stop malware getting on your pc.

And these are useful utilities;
http://www.mozilla.com/ - Firefox web browser.
http://www.ccleaner.com Cr*pcleaner Registry cleaner and privacy tool
Winpatrol is a handy utility that tracks cookies on your pc and stops unwanted changes to your startup folder.
http://www.winpatrol.com
Spywareblaster works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It won't uninstall spyware that is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes to your browser.
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com
http://www.siteadvisor.com -MacAffee Site Advisor warns about malware on sites you are about to visit.

http://spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spy ware.htm - The Spyware Warrior site identifies fake anti spyware programs.
https://www.grc.com - Shields Up security site, check your firewall works.

Remember to update and run all of you anti malware programs at least once a week.

Online Banking, Is It Secure? Identity Theft Speaker www.IDTheftSecurity.com

There are security flaws with many online banking websites. Learn what holes there may be in your banks security plan.

Why can citizen not vote on important government issues online.?

Why in this day and age of internet banking, can we not have an online voting system, with registered voters? We can do our taxes online, we can pay bill online, but we cannot vote online. I understand the security risks, but major issues can be voted on by the grass roots of the country, leaving politician with no option but to answer why or why not to the issue at hand.

the problem is...people might get someone's internet connection and vote for what they want, and hackers could make all votes for their issue

see what i'm saying?

hope this helps

Many Americans still do not have access to computers and/or to the Internet, while others do not know how to operate them. The elderly and the poor, particularly, would be unfairly excluded by such a system.

Internet voting in elections might make sense at some time in the future, as free Internet access is made available to all, and as more people become computer literate. Concerns about privacy and electoral fraud can probably be overcome if there is a determination to do so.

On the other hand, voting on specific issues by Internet will never be practical. Most issues are complex, and few voters are able to become well-enough informed to make intelligent decisions. Furthermore, most people have little interest in the many issues that face Congress and state legislatures, so we cannot realistically expect a legitimate cross-section of the population to vote on any given issue. Large, powerful organizations would be able to mobilize their supporters, while the average voter would likely not even be aware of specific votes.

Despite the many flaws in the current system, it still beats this proposal.

What security issues are there in Ubuntu/Linux?

What I mean is, is it safe to do tasks such as online shopping/banking without firewall etc.

Ubuntu uses and includes a type of firewall by default, known as "iptables." You just need to adjust it according to your needs.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/IptablesHowTo

Ubuntu has zero unpatched known security holes.

Compare that to Windows XP:

Is it safe to do online banking while being monitored by free internet security like avg or avast!!!`

Please help me clear this issue

A good antivirus is obviously important, and for that I use and recommend Avast;
BUT for online security for matters such as banking, a top firewall to keep you hidden from the bad guys is probably more important.

For this I use and recommend the Comodo Firewall Pro (it is free despite its name).

Edit: As mentioned above, it's also probably a good idea to clear your temp files afterward just to be on the safe side. A good safe temp file cleaner is ATF Cleaner.
Another more aggressive cleaner is CCleaner, but ATF Cleaner will serve the purpose.
