My current laptop is getting old and I'm looking to move on to a newer one. I have a desktop PC but I think I'm sacrificing it to my parents who are without computer, so this will be my only computer...
* Internet use - I need internet access for classes and so I don't shrivel up and die without it. Email, chatting with friends, research for classes, keeping on top of assignments, online banking, etc.
* Word stuff - I write a lot, research papers and essays for classes and writing stories is one of my hobbies.
* Music - I have a lot of it and I like it all. I don't want to get rid of it.
* Movies - I don't really do a lot with making movies on my computer, though I do watch DVDs on my laptop when I can, because that lets me sit anywhere as opposed to being stuck in front of a television.
* Photos - I just need basic photo stuff, nothing too fancy, though I do want to be able to run something better than MS Paint.
* Gaming - I have given up gaming.
* Durability - I'm a klutz.
Help?
Ooh, and I would like to find something with more battery life than the computer I have now... which is literally about 50 minutes before battery death.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Third-Party online bill pay service (not banks) how do they send the ACH files, get the money from the customer, and notify that the bill has been paid? I need as much detail as possible for my Senior research paper for college, I am a finance major.
From my experience, they send the ACH files using systems, or through email as well (it's just a file)... this file is loaded into the system, it brings up how much the customer owes, minus the credits and the invoice is then generated and either emailed out or hardcopy mailed out, and either way, there is an online email that is then generated to be sent to the customer to let them know that money is being debited from their account on a certain day.
i have a research paper due in less than 2 hours, and it's nowhere NEAR completion.
i resorted to PURCHASING a paper online. delivery isn't until 3 HOURS.
as part of purchasing the paper, my bank account went negative.
-_-
yeah, i know.
so, yeaaahh....help?!
Being a college professor, I hear this a lot. I would advise that you contact the professor and ask for more time. Most of the time professors will give you a little more time if you are having a problem. Of course, you would have had a better chance for a positive outcome if you had asked sooner (just a little something to consider next semester). Good Luck
I Emailed them back and asked what winnings? They told I had won
a lottery that was done through Email address and I needed to make arrangements to claim my funds. They also stated to me that
there was no cost on my part, that all I had to do was fill out the forms
to open up an internet bank account so that once they have received
the forms they require, then they will ask for the clearence of the funds
and transfer them into my internet account. They sent me the forms through Email attachments, and I went ahead and filled them out, and instead of emailing them back signed and with informations, I emailed
the Bank manager whose name is JAMES CRAWFORD and told him
I would fax the forms to him. I went down to fax the forms only to be told that they won't go through that they needed the international code.
So I came back home and did some research on my own through the
International Fraudwatch/Alert and found nothing. So I went ahead
and googled the address of the Bank and up came EMAIL SCAM.
I went ahead and Emailed Mr. Crawford back and explained my situation and also found that the ADDRESS WAS A SCAM, and the
I was going to report him. I received an Email back today, telling me
that they had used the Banks address to impersonate it, but guaranteed me that this was no scam and gave me another number
to fax my papers. So I went back online and enter the address again
and found a webpage with 40,000 plus address' for the Royal Bank Of
Scotland in and around the London area.. I also looked up the phone
number and it is valiad. So my question is should I pursue this and
send them the forms? I already reported the Email to the International
Fraudwatch. The forms just asked for my signature to open up the account and my address. I hope some one can shed some light on
this forme. Out of all the Emails I receive about Lotteries and having Won, One is bound to be real don't you think?

My father is in the final stages of purchasing a used 2005 Toyota Highlander Limited V-6.
The paper work is signed, just waiting for the banking to go through tomorrow, and the answer to my question wouldn't effect the final decision anyways, but we were just curious.
After test driving 3 Highlanders, and researching them online, we had just assumed it ran on regular unleaded gasoline. But tonight as I was reading a review from Motor Trend, it says that the V-6 models require 91 octane gasoline. This is the only source I can find claiming that it runs on 91 octane. I have searched numerous sources online trying to confirm or deny this, but I havent found anything else. So I am not too lazy to do an internet search, I have tried and still dont have an answer.
We will obviously find out tomorrow by looking in the owners manual, but I was curious if anyone could confirm this tonight.
So... Does the 05 Highlander with the V-6 engine require 91 octane fuel??
Also, if anyone reading this owns, or has owned, this generation Highlander, any feedback about the vehicle, positive or negative, any interesting facts, or things to watch out for would be helpful.
Thanks again.
So, now I have found another source saying that Toyota recommends 91 octane, but it is capable of running on 87???
Toyota recommends 87 octane for the '05 Highlander. Some versions of that V6 do recommend Premium, but the Highlander is tuned for 87 octane.
Boston Fed Policy Paper: Person-to-Person Electronic Funds Transfers
The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston has published a Public Policy Discussion Paper by Oz Shy titled " Person-to-Person Electronic Funds Transfers: Recent Developments and Policy Issues ". Oz Shy is a senior economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and a member of the Consumer Payments Research Center in the research department.
From the abstract: "The paper investigates the reasons why person-to-person electronic funds transfers are still not very common in the United States compared with practices in many other countries. The paper also describes recent enhancements to online and mobile banking that provide account holders with low-cost interfaces to manage person-to-person electronic funds transfers via automated clearing house (ACH). On the theoretical side, the paper characterizes the critical mass levels needed for payment instruments to become widely adopted. Given the Fed's long-term heavy involvement in check clearing, the paper concludes with policy discussions of whether intervention is needed."
