Is it a good idea to move to Las Vegas on a shoestring budget ?

I am 33 years old and I live in Southern Cali and I am sick and tired of it. I want to move to Las Vegas and start a new life but I am not sure how to go about it. I have $20000 saved up in a CD and I am currently unemployed due to losing my banking job in southern cali. Even though , I have a little bit of money saved, money is extremely tight right now and I dont have connections in Vegas for work. Im thinking about just moving there by renting an cheap apartment and then looking for some work but Im afraid what if I dont get a job right away. Plus I have rent to pay. I tried to apply for jobs online through various website but companies wont even interview you unless you are local in Vegas. How can I relocate there and make this work. Is this a good idea or should I stay where Im at right now which is Living with family. I am not married and have no one to support but myself .

You can find a good place to live by yourself for $800-900 a month ($1500 a month is living like a big balla!!).

But it will probably cost you around $1500 to get into the place. So you have to take that into consideration.

And you're right, a lot of places out here are looking to recruit locals. So already being out here would make it easier to find something.

But have you thought about roomies? You can maybe find some online...you just have to pray that they're not freaks : )

And if you have any experience in customer service (waiter, call center, etc) that will definitely help you find a job...even if it is temporary.

Ultimately, you just have to make the move if you want to come out here. Vegas is a great town with lots of opportunities, but it can be expensive if you're not careful.

I say go for it though!!

Is it legal for me to have a friend in Las Vegas place sports bets for me at casinos?

From what I understand its illegal to gamble online if your in America (so much for freedom), but I do know its legal in Las Vegas. Since I don't live in Vegas can I have a friend place the bets for me and then transfer the winnings to my bank account? I really wish America would just tax this area instead of leaving it so gray.

I think it's technically illegal but no one's going to care if it's just your friend. If you're betting a large amount of money it might make your taxes a headache, since your friend would get the W-2G. Otherwise, go for it. It's not illegal for your friend to give you money.

Now, if your friend were doing this as a business for hundreds of different people and advertising his services somehow and taking a cut of the winnings, they'd go after him for running an illegal interstate gambling operation or whatever. In the case of what you're doing, no one gives a crap.

Also, you're not allowed to use cell phones in the sportsbook area of the casino. Hopefully your friend knows this.

Do I need a have a major credit card @ check in at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas?

Im going to Vegas next month, and after I booked my room w/ the "No Regret" promotion online w/ my debit card (also w/ visa logo), I read in the terms & conditions that I'll be charged $200 for incidental charges & only major credit cards are accepted. Which after I called right away & the guy I spoke to said I don't have to use a credit card or debit card & I could pay cash for the remaining balance for my room. He said I have the right to waive the incidental charge. Which means, I would have to carry my card or cash if I want to use the pool, room service, or anything that could be billed to my room... I wouldn't have a problem, but I don't have any major credit cards only my bank card...I need assurance please...

I just used my bank card from union bank of calif with the Visa logo and they had no problem..

What is the timeframe for voiding a contract pertaining to EFT debit from bank account?

I made a reservation online for a hotel room in Las Vegas with my VISA debit card. I cancelled the reservation within 48 hrs of the ACH hitting my account. The vendor states that my credit owed, minus the standard cancellation fee, would take 30 business days yet the vendor's site states that they will match and credit (at their discretion) any Best Price Guarantee that is found, within 7-10 business days once a reservation is booked online. Why can't the vendor process my credit within the same amount of time as their "Best Price Guarantee"? The vendor gets his cancellation fee but is allowed up to 30 days to return my credit while collecting interest on my funds in the vendor's account over a 30 day period of time? Isn't that considered "Double-dipping"?

Yep a lot of places will charge you immediatly for charges but getting money back from them is like pulling teeth sometimes.

If this is stated in their refund policy then there is not much you can do but wait as they did disclose it before you made the purchase. They usually stick this in pages of terms that no one reads but it is probably in there somewhere.

In the future, I would read their cancellation and refund policies. I have seen sites that do this and have acually sent messages to them stating that I did not use their site because of a specific policy.

There are a lot of sites that will credit any refunds in a resonable amount of time, that is a few days not a few weeks.

my money was withdraw by others?

yesterday (10/20)and this monring(10/21)i checked my online banking account, and i found out there are 4 withdraws total is $1000 was made in las vegas on 10/20 and 10/21, but i didn't go to las vegas, i stay in pomona,CA. for all weekend(i live in pomona CA), and i called the bank, they said, since the activities are still pending, they can not do anything, i have to wait untill Tue. what can i do now, i am really concerned about it , it is $1000, my 3 months living money, please help me!!!!
is it possible i can have my$1000 back!?
i did not lose my ATM card and the last time i sopped online was one month ago, and last time i went to las vegas was about 10 months ago,i have no idea why someone can withdraw my money in los vegas

have the bank STOP all activity on the account IMMEDIATELY, while they investigate. Are you missing an ATM card ? Is there any other way anyone could have gotten your account number ? You WILL get your money back, but some banks make you responsible for the first $ 50 of the loss

Don't bank on it: Vegas not typical cookie-cutter track (NASCAR ...

Look for Jeff Gordon to be out front of the pack on the steep banks of Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

It's not politically correct to lump all of the similarly configured, 1.5-mile tracks into a single category, but the proof in their similarity is found in how the cookies crumble.

Perhaps it is simply because teams place so much emphasis on the 1.5-mile unrestricted, intermediate speedways. After all, the doglegged and double-doglegged versions (Las Vegas, Atlanta, Texas, Charlotte, Kansas and Chicagoland) host nine of the 36 points-paying races, which work out to 25 percent of the schedule.
