How can a 13 year old order A dell Online?

I have $900 cash and I want to order a Dell online, The problem is that they only accept debit or credit cards. My parents arnt gonna help me ( my dad will just keep the money) and I dont have a bank account. I live in downtown austin, so theres plenty of banks and stores. What do I do?

Wow, so much spam!

I suggest you go to your local drugstore or supermarket, and buy a Visa giftcard and load it with your $900. Most stores sell them, they are usually at the cash register where the candy is at.

At 13 years of age, without your parents help, I'd only buy DIRECT from a large store like Best Buy, or a home shopping network like QVC. I'd hate for you to get ripped off by some wacko on Ebay.

How can college students find jobs?

I am a college student at the University of Texas at Austin and I have been looking for a part-time job for the past two months with no success. I use the typical job banks online; craigslist, monster, hirealonghorn (a job bank specifically for UT students) and still have not been successful at all. Does anybody have any other advice that could help me land a part time job, I didn't think it would be this difficult.

You should try your colleges career center they should be able to help you write your resume and get it ready for when you looking for jobs. They should also have job listings in your field. You should also speak to your college adviser, he/she may have contacts in the professional that should be able to help you. You could also try a job recruiter, I have used several that I got from the phone book (common ones in my area are Kelly, Burns Personal, Comforce, or many others), they have always gotten me interviews for jobs.

I need a new bank...?

I live in Killeen and bank with IBC in Austin. It's a huge pain to drive to Austin to deposit cash and checks. Plus lately their customer service has been kind of crappy. I'd like to switch banks. I need something that has an awesome online banking program, no monthly fees (free checking) and has debit cards. Also something local, and has flexible hours-- such as open all day saturday or late on week nights. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! Oh and no Bank of America, I've already heard HORRIBLE things about them. Maybe extraco?

My wife and I love: www.EverBank.com

All deposits are made through a local banks ATM (no charge). It shows up in the account within minutes. We can use about six different banks in the immediate area for deposits.

ATM withdrawls are no different than any other bank... except there are ATM Fee rebates (up to $6 a month).

Bill Pay. Fund transfers. etc.

Interest on checking: 3.41%

FDIC insured.

We've been using them since Dec 2004.
We used Chase for 30 years plus prior to EverBank.

Anyone know of anywhere hiring for part time right now?

I'm looking for a customer service position, part-time evening (after 6PM) and weekend shifts, in the Austin/San Marcos area. I've done banking, waiting tables, and cash handling, mostly. Does anyone here know of who's hiring, or do you work for a company that's hiring? Thanks in advance! I've looked everywhere online, and every place I go, I'm told to fill out an online application. There's got to be some place I'm missing!

houses short selling, do banks tend to approve this?

I have been looking (online) at some houses in an Austin Texas neighborhood.
I have noticed multiple houses say "short sale, bank approval required".

I know this means that the house is selling for less than is owed to the bank.
Do banks tend to approve these?
Should I be weary of buying such a house?

These houses also seem under-priced compared to other houses in the same neighborhood that are the same size.

I just bought a property on a short sale. It was the same situation, lender had to approve everything, but it actually went quite smoothly.

In a normal sale the seller has an asking price and, if you agree to pay that, you've got a deal. On a short sale it doesn't work that way. The asking price is just a starting position. Bank approval required means, even if you offer that price, the bank's probably going to wait to see if any higher offers come in. That's why short sales can take months. The lender is taking a loss so they tend to drag things on to see if someone will better your offer.

In my case I offered the asking price and took the property as is. Someone else had already offered $3,000 less and I wanted to give the lender a reason to fast track my purchase. It worked and we closed the loan in less than 6 weeks.

You're right. It was priced substantially less than comparable properties.

Move Your Money–A Review of Five Austin Area Banks and Credit ...

What a great movement! I missed the first post but I’m in the process of doing this anyway. It’s great that you offer some suggestions. I have a particular fondness for University Federal since my son did a commercial spot a couple of years ago. He was the guy that kept getting hit in the head with a dodge ball. No Oscar nominations as of yet.
