Online Banking At Barclays

Online transfer from 1 bank to another. How long?

A friend living some 200 miles away owes me £126. They said they'd paid me an online transfer yesterday (Thursday 1st Feb) from their bank (Barclays) to mine (Natwest). No sign of it at all on my end. How long should it take? I thought online banking was instantaneous. Or is my friend telling me lies?

The transfer is instantaneous if the two banks are the same (e.g. both of you bank with Barclays).

If it is between different banks (e.g. one is with Barclays, one is with NatWest), it can take up to 4 working days.

Online security video from Barclays Online

This short, informative, video explains an number of different steps you can take to protect yourself from online fraud. It also details what ...

HOW DO WE REPORT or STOP the emails, going around, which prompts you to confirm your bankdetails? FAKE/ILLEGAL

I got an email with the Barclays Bank logos on it, with a link
http://www.barclays.co.uk.brccontrol.tas kstart.lockerez.biz/detailsconfirm/
which looks JUST like the online banking at barclays and it prompts you to enter your account details and passwords... and digit codes...

THIS IS a SCAM!!! be careful! criminals record this info somehow and use it!

DONT put your details in... THEY will steal your money!
THIS is NOT emails sent from Barclays themselves!!!

It's a sad fact of life on the Internet nowadays but if you know how to handle this kind of junk it just becomes a minor annoyance. Use a good Virus Scanner, Spy-ware Remover & Firewall do regular system checks with them and keep them up to date. Use whatever tools you can in your Mail program to filter out the suspect stuff. If you've any doubt as to the authenticity of a communication check with your bank's URL direct not with the link in the mail.

Barclays bank, system down!!?

All of Barlcays banks nation wide have had a system failure!
I had to pay for my car to be fixed at garage, but my card kept declining, So I rang the bank, no good, telephones were down, so I drove to the bank, the get some cash, no good, all they could give me was £100 as they have no way of checking peoples account balance , I was fuming my bill was £175,
So I had to go back to the garage with £100 and explain that the banks system was down and that was all I could get, this is the type of story no one believes!!

All that banks could say was "sorry there is nothing we can do"

have you had problems with your card today?

the problem started at 12:38 according to the online banking

There's nothing anyone can do if the computers crash.
You'll just have to sit it out.

Kaspersky Internet Security - any good?

As an offer on barclays, anyone with online banking membership can get a 12 month subscription to kaspersky for FREE! (worth £50 apperently) so if you are part of barclays and you didnt know this, hop along to the barclays website and check it out. Anyway, question is, ive personally never heard of this security brand, so does anybody know if its good? and ive got nortons 360 on at moment with about 6 months left on the license, is kaspersky better? thanks

i'm using Kaspersky anti-virus and internet security for the past 3 years.
i tried so many and found this to be the best for me.
update are available daily. (if u wish monthly too)
it'll give you more control over ur system.
u can even control each every action as and when a software tries to access a registry or system file or system process.
if u are an technocrat u'll love this, else u can set the Kaspersky to decide what to do.

Lloyds Banking's Daniels Will Waive Bonus, Following Lead of RBS ...

By Jon Menon Feb. 22 (Bloomberg) — Lloyds Banking Group Plc Chief Executive Officer Eric Daniels is to waive his 2.3 million pound ($3.6 million) bonus for 2009, following the lead of executives at Barclays Plc and Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc. “Mr Daniels has taken this action because he believes that the excellent progress the group is making, based on the considerable contribution of many colleagues across the company, is in danger of being obscured by the current debate on executive bonus awards,” Lloyds Chairman Win Bischoff said in an e-mailed statement. “Decisions on pay are a matter for the Lloyds board,” said a Treasury spokesman, who asked not to be identified in line with departmental policy. “We’ve been clear we expect all banks to show restraint on bankers’ pay and we welcome steps to do so.” The government has pressed banks to cut or defer bonuses amid taxpayer anger over payouts. Lloyds, 41 percent government- owned, followed RBS CEO Stephen Hester , Barclays CEO John Varley and President Robert Diamond who decided to forgo their 2009 bonuses in the past week. Daniels, who is paid a base salary of 1.04 million pounds, would have been entitled to a bonus of around 225 percent of his base salary, which will be paid in stock over three years, according to spokesman Shane O’Riordain .
