Online Advantage Banking

What conveniences are offered? Is it safe, or will other people get access to your accounts? How does the bank guarantee that your financial and personal information is secure? What are the different services offered, and the requirements needed to obtain the privilege of on-line banking over the Internet? Also, please explain which feature you personally find the best. Is there a bank you would prefer over others? Why?

You can move money between internal and external accounts and pay bills anytime of the day or night, and set up regular monthly billpays or savings, sitting at home on your fat butt, without having to drive to some certain bank branch during the work day.

And savings often get better interest rates.

And you can often get a free online account with a bank that otherwise charges a monthly fee for a checking account.

What have your experiences with internet banking been like.

I love my Internet banking...

I can check my cleared checks, I can see my deposits, I can see my withdraws, I can transfer money from checking to savings and vice verse, I can print up any copies I need with out leaving home...

My bank installed several new options for security and I have had no problems for the last 5 years I have done on line banking...

All the answers before me are correct in the advantages as well..
I know you can pay bills and check your balance any time even when the bank is closed...
So everyone is correct on this answer...

I have recently switched to monitoring my checking account online. I still get a paper statement every month, but usually ignore it. I print out the online statement every month. Is there any advantage to entering checks and individual debit card payments in the check register as well?

Don't depend on the technology, there is always room for error. You should ALWAYS keep a physical check register. It's the only 100% accurate way to keep up with your bank account, as long as you legitimately try to keep up with everything.

I work at a bank and all of the people I've dealt with who primarily keep up with their banking via the internet ALWAYS have problems. For instance, if you pay for gas at a lot of gas stations with your debit card, the gas station will only take $1.00 out and THEN post the actual $30-40 you spent a week later. Of course the person doesn't pay attention to this and all of a sudden their account is overdrawn because all of these "sudden" charges pop up. This same scenario occurs ALL the time and it's not always gas stations.

disadvantages and advantages of Online Banking system..

Online banking has fully matured and there are no disadvantages to it, anymore. Any competitive bank offers it these days. If something goes wrong, you go to the branch to straighten it out. But online errors are as infrequent as in person ones.

If you mean online *only* banking, people are afraid of new things. "The devil you know is better than the one you don't." Online you can't see the building that has your money. You have to take on faith that the bank you've been dealing with isn't a teenager who's good at web design.

The advantage: 24 hour banking. Transfer funds, pay bills, or see statements anytime you want.
