I want to use internet banking for statements etc without having to go to the hole in the wall for them. But im not sure how to get registered. I tried got half way through and said i needed a security code which i need to call up for. What do I say and do they have to ask you all these security questions ?, coz i have no idea!
Call in and get them to explain it properly. I resisted getting it for years but it makes things much easier. Worth the effort.

Internet banking?
how safe is this alternative
I to use to ask the same question when i changed to net banking!
But it is very safe actually.I have Halifax and it's good!,
You'll be given three seperate log in passwords(which you choose you're self, and you are the only one who knows the answer as it refers to you only-IE;!First Crush! etc etc)
You put in you're User name and for you're
password one of the pree selected passwords you already choose is asked and you put in the answer to that question, that's it!
The password changes every time you lo gin to you're net account-so that';s good, but if you want to change you're lo gin answers from time to time(i do) go into setting's and make the changes-give know one the chance to guess you're passwords!
As for having net banking-it's great-best thing
ever! better than waiting for long ques in the shop!
And when you are waiting for cheques/Wages or Benefit's to be paid in you can see it before you've left the house! and transfer you're money to other account',set-up standing orders, and direct debit etc etc.You also get statement's posted to you're Email address when they are ready to view on-line!
The advice i would give you also,is to make sure you have a good "Security Software" on you're PC like "Norton" -so if there's any risk, this package will detect and fix it!
Take the plunge!

2-3 days and Sundays don't count
Can banks offering Internet Banking expect their customers to have better Internet security protection than the banks' own protection? Details and sources please?
Can banks offering Internet Banking expect their customers to have better Internet security protection than the banks' own protection?
In this scenario the customer's username n password were stolen via a keylogger following which the perpetrator steals the customer's money. (How does this make a difference?) Can the bank insist that the customer's security be better than its own? (I'm on the customer's side)
Details and sources please?
No, in fact they assume you have no protection at all. The connection between banks and your PC is always secure, it comes with your operating system and browser - and if you somehow managed to damage your software so much it can't perform a secure handshake - you'll get an error message, simple as that.
However the real danger comes from software already installed on your machine (such as spyware and keyloggers) which steal the information before it's even encrypted and transmitted. Banks are finally coming round to this notion, and some (notably Barclays) offer extra pin protection to ensure the card is present when accessing accounts from home.

Vietnamese Internet Banking Proven Unsecured | Vietnam Business News
Twenty among 52 banks in Vietnam examined by the Bach Khoa Inter-network Security Center (BKIS) were proven to be unsecured, regarding their internet banking services. These include large and reputable banks. Nguyen Minh Duc, BKIS Inter-network Security Division director, reported at a workshop entitled, “Network Security Vulnerabilities for Internet Banking in Vietnam and Solutions”, which was held by BKIS on April 14 to warn banks and improve their understanding of network security and the need to secure internet banking systems in Vietnam.
Representatives of more than 50 banks across the country attended the workshop to see BKIS experts show network security vulnerabilities for internet banking systems in Vietnam. The experts warned of the potential consequences of network security vulnerabilities. For example, the vulnerabilities in the money transfer function may make the fall victim to fraudulent money transfers. Banks’ password recovery function may also be used for changing the account user’s password. The use of the question and complaint forms for consumer responses could be used to install dangerous codes into the server and control the internet banking system.
