I think any bank that employs the type of robust encryption that is present on the majority of e-commerce sites on the Internet will give you no cause for concern. All data and information will remain safe from hackers. Since banks at least in the US have a legal obligation to keep such data secure, they employ addtional security measures for your protection.
As far as money transfers, they are likely not even done on the Internet, but on private financial networks like FedWire, the method banks in the US use to transfer funds for customers.

can you please tell me what is internet banking? how it will useful? is there any risks to having that type of banking... how can v use it in secure way?
Internet banking is a system which utilizes technology to make life easier for the customer...
It is an interface wherein the customer can perform several activities such as buying things, transfering money, checking on & managing his finances, paying bills etc from the comfort of his home...
It is completely safe & secure, provided the customer follows a few simple guidelines...Most of the major banks & financial institutions provide this service to their customers...
When a customer opens an account with a bank, he is provided with a login id & password...once he logins from the bank's website, it is recommended that he change the password immediately...the password should not be shared with anybody...the person who has the login id & password can manage the bank account completely from the internet...
When you login using the password, the bank gives you the option of using a virtual keyboard to type in your password...this is the most secure way of keying in your password in such a manner that hackers & other malcontents cannot access it...using the virtual keyboard ensures complete security of your account...
Once you have logged in, you can see your account status, balance in your account, transactions for period that you specify etc...in addition, you can transfer money to other accounts and perform other tasks...
In the olden days, in order to do these routine tasks, you would have to visit your bank, stand in line for a long time & generally spend a lot of effort & time...today due to technological advances, you only need to have a internet connection & all this gets done in a few clicks !!!
Few tips to ensure complete security of your account while using internet banking -
1) Never disclose your password to others...
2) Password should be random...not something which can be easily guessed by others, like your date of birth etc...
3) Change your password regularly...
4) Do not write your password on pieces of paper, which anybody can lay their hands on...
5) While logging in use virtual keyboard option...this is option where there is image of keyboard on your computer screen & you need to press appropriate keys on that virtual keyboard using your mouse...the order of characters in the virtual keyboard changes everytime...this is to eliminate the risk of a hacker accessing your system remotely, recording your keyboard strokes & guessing your password...
6) Once you have finished your task, log-out properly from your account...if you do not, anybody who uses the system after you can misuse your account...
Is internet banking at work safe? My company has a protected network and allows internet access. Should I bank at work where I consider the system safe, rather then risk it at home. Is there something I'm overlooking or not considering?
yeah banking sites at least the large national chains like b of a or wells fargo are about as safe as you can get. of course nothing is failsafe. but you can assured with confidence the the puny amounts of cash you have in your accounts not worth the time for someone to try to steal anyways
For singaporeans only, do you have problems logging on to posb/uob internet banking ? It says java not running ? what it means ? What to enable it to run ? Is there any risk involved ?
yeah ---> big problem
with high risk. Because my company and bank account is in the Bahamas. I've contacted a million places and no one really takes someone whose bank account isn't in the U.S. I only have 2Checkout, but I want to know others just in case it doesn't work out with 2checkout. Does anyone know a card processor that deals with high risk? Thank you very much.
You could set up an account in the US and they create a paypal account and then transfer the money into your bahamas account.

Internet banking: does it put your money at risk? : Rupee Times
Internet has become very common amongst people. With more and more cyber cafes and kiosks coming up access to the World Wide Web has become a lot easier. Internet has made many things convenient and easy. Added to this series is the internet banking or e-banking facility. Internet banking refers to the use of internet for delivering banking products and services to customers.
Internet banking has brought many changes in the banking industry. Banking now no more confines itself to branches. Internet banking processes any enquiry or transaction without intimating the bank every time. This enables one to bank beyond banking hours and one can access his bank account comfortably sitting at home. Money transfer between accounts, payment of money in and out, loan application or applying for a new debit/credit card are just some of the features of Internet banking.
