Has anyone ever canceled a first premier credit card right after you applied for it?

My 15 year old daughter applied for a first premier credit card online, and was accepted. This made me very upset because the card is in my name. I called the next day to cancel and the woman said to call back tomorrow because the application is in the middle of prossesing so she can't do anything yet. Has anyone had any experience with this company? If so, did you have any problems canceling without any fees? I have read nothing but BAD about this bank so I am very worried.

I doubt that your daughter had the necessary information to complete the application. First Premiere will most likely send you a letter requesting further infomation. Simply do not reply to the letter & the account will not be opened.

Personally, I would contact FP again & ask to speak to the Customer service rep's supervisor who should be able to assist you NOW and stop the process before it gets any further along.

Please Help! Would First Premier Bank charge me the $7 Fee for mailing the check to them?

The company charges me 7 to pay my credit balance online or on the phone. Will they charge me for mailing a check?

By the way First Premier Bank is the worst credit service you could ever sign up for. Please don't use them. I got a $250 credit limit, with $179 in initial fees, leaving 71 dollars in credit.

I already paid the first minimum of $25 ,is there a way to revoke the payment? If I can, i would just not pay until January so they will terminate my service. I think I've gotten myself into a big mess.
Thanks, I've had capital one before. You may not like them, but they have much better service than First Premier. I read the introduction booklet very carefully, I suppose not carefully enough.
In addition to numerous fees, their online credit management sit sucks. Their Phone Customer service representatives are very rude, as if by having the card, meant i was a lower life form.

I'm really sorry to hear that. A complete list of fees can be found below in the sources section. Do not revoke payment: It's possible, but trust me not worth your time.

First Premier gives cards to almost anyone! There is practically no underwriting and they make a profit off their fees before their customers default.

It sounds like you are past 30 days, meaning your chances of being able to cancel the card and get the "membership" fees, etc waived is much lower. However, call up the customer service line and give it a shot.

Most likely, they will say no. In that case, tell them you plan to CLOSE the card, freeze the balance, and pay it off. If you just ignore it, the card WILL pile up many more fees, such as late payment and over-the-limit fees of $29+ each. Even if you don't plan to pay it off (not recommended!), it will prevent First Premier from piling those late payment and OTL fees and creating an astronomical balance.

I understand your situation and was also in your shoes when I had to accept junk credit cards. However, I recommend that you do not ignore the card or else you will end up not even qualifying for any credit in the future. But like someone else said, lesson learned and its not anything you'll be loosing sleep over in a year's time.

Next time, go for a secured credit card - they are 100x better for people with limited credit. Good luck with dealing with that outrageous card company.

How much of a monthly increase does First Premier Bank have on your credit score?

I have a 604 credit score. I have a credit card with First Premier Bank to increase my credit score. My limit is 250.00 and this is the 2nd month and its completely paid. I made zero purchases the 1st month and paid off all of the new account fees and charges. The second month (which is this month) I MAILED the 7 dollar online payment fee and the 2 restaurant purchases which totaled about 30 dollars. I plan to spend on the card and pay it off in the same month (Every month).

I have disputed items on my credit report just to see what will happen because I hear that's the easiest way to increase your score. So we'll see how that part goes. But how long does it take to get responses about a dispute, and how much does First Premier Bank increase your credit score if your account is paid in full every month. I know they report every month so I wanted to know how much will it increase? I am trying to have 620 in order to purchase a new car.

How long should I wait before canceling a credit card?

the beginning of this year i accepted an offer for a first premier bank credit card. the reason why i took it is 'cause the APR is low. Once i received the card and received the first statment i noticed that there was a $6 monthly mantinance fee plus the finance charge. When i received the offer it did not mention anything about a monthly mantinance fee 'cause otherwise i would've not taken it.
I want to cancel the card since I didnt like the fact that they did not mention anything about that, and i also had to pay $3.50 to enroll in the online banking, something that any other bank offers that for free, but i was told that if you cancel a credit card within a year it will show on your credit and i guess is something bad.
Can you please help tell me if that is true, and if it is, how long should I wait before I cancel it.
the card is paid off I dont use it specially after I found out about the fee. But I want to know if should i wait or can i cancel it now

First Premier is one of the many Sub-Prime lenders and I bet already charged you a few other startup fees. They do disclose this monthly fee but they put it in the small print. It was probably something like $72 annually (billed at 6.00 a month). If you cancel now those "fees" just went to waste. I would say if you really need to build history then keep it for now.

In the mean time look for other cards. One company is Orchard Bank, they are pretty good about giving cards in most cases. Then once you have another card you can close the First Premier one out before they hit you with the annual fee next year.

Since FP is really a Sub-Prime lender calling them up will probably not do anything to reduce or remove these fees. These fees is really how they make their money. They already probably got a couple hundred from you so there is no reason they need to keep you. If you go away they know there will be many more who sign up.
