Chase Banking Online

I had a transaction that posted to my account, the money removed. I had a PayPal deposit scheduled for today or tomorrow, so when I went to my account and saw it was above where I thought it would be, I figured the PayPal deposit went through.

I went in to look at the details and there was no PayPal deposit, and the transaction from the other day was gone, the money credited back to the account like it had never happened.

I'm just wondering why this happened? Has anyone had a similar experience? I know the bank will probably fix it, but what the heck?

Yeah, strange. I saw that happen a few days ago, where a week's worth of transactions disappeared. They all came back the next day, however.

I think they must be doing some maintenance on their servers, because it's also hosing up my Quicken One-Step downloads. Hopefully it settles down soon.

I currently bank at Fifth Third and am SO fed up with not seeing my deposits post for days.
Two weeks ago I overdrew for the first time in my life. And three days before that, on a Tuesday before 10am, I made a $2000 deposit. This makes my blood boil. Of course, they didn't charge me a penalty, but I'm still so mad- if I had bounced a check or been declined at a store I would have been furious, to me that is embarassing.
It's impossible for me to know how much money I have or get caught up with my check register when their online posting is so poor. I hate to rely on technology but if it worked correctly, it would make everything easier.
Chase Bank is the most convenient for me to switch to, but I need to know how they compare in this aspect before I make the change.

when u make a deposit it shows up online almost immidiately
but when you make a withdrawal it could take 1-3 days and they dont provide free checking ....without direct deposit .
But,
they are nice enough to reverse your overdraft fees if you have any and call them with a nice story .
i've been with them for years so i guess im content with them .

I have a new computer and cannot transfer data from my previous one. I have always done on-line banking with Bank One/Chase Bank. I need to set up my old information into the new computer.

IT not saved on your hard drive. The bank's server stores all your information. You should be able to log on to the banks online banking website and then be able to get into your banking account.

chase online banking is secure?

Any online site (especially CHASE) is secure IF there is that little lock in the lower right hand side of the browser where the cert matches the name of the site and you don't get a "cert warning" to accept (meaning the browser knows the issuer..Verisign, Thawte, etc..)
This means that all traffic while it is present is encrypted, and cannot (easily) be intercepted by a "hacker".
Regardless, if your PC is compromised, all of this security goes away..

So make sure you're up to date on a REAL (ie:"paid for") Antivirus, Anti Spyware, etc..and SCAN OFTEN.
