I'm wanting to open up an online checking account. I already have one through NetBank but they charge me a monthly maintenance fee of $8.00 so I'd like to know what other online banks offer totally free checking? Anyone know or had any experience with Chase Banks online? Has anyone ever opened up a checking or savings account with Chase Bank online and what was / is your experience with them? Is it easy to open up an online checking account with them? Do they charge any fees? Is there a minimum balance needed in the account at all times? NetBank recently added the free checking option but when I inquired about it, they told me I wouldn't be able to open up a free checking account since I already have an account with them (the one that charges me an $8 monthly maintenace fee). They told me I'd need to close that account out and then after it's closed out to apply for their Free Checking. Pleez let me know becuz I don't want to have to keep paying the monthly maintenace fees to NetBank.
I have a Chase bank account and have had no trouble with the on-line banking bit. I don't have just an on-line checking account though so I don't know how that feature works.
INGDirect has an e-checking account that's supposed to be fairly nice, but I don't have one so I can't say for sure how it is.

the check is from JP Morgan Chase bank.
You should be able to call Chase and verify that it is good. I don't know if you can do it online. Good luck.

I have had my Washington Mutual account for years and I have loved WaMu, I feel I've been treated well and respected, communicated with well. I love their online banking interface. Now that WaMu has been bought out by Chase, I want to hear what Chase customers feel about their service? Are you happy with them? I am thinking about if I should switch.
Chase is fine. More traditional than WaMu..

This is ALMOST ALWAYS a "phish" attempt.
If you hold the cursor over that URL, you should see that what appears to be an URL is actually a PICTURE, and it actually leads to a completely different URL.
Generally speaking, you should NEVER rely on an URL given in an email for something as important as banking. Type in the URL directly into the address bar of the browser and log into your account from there and do your online banking that way.
I've seen a very similar "phish" attempt on me as well. Unfortunately, they guessed my bank wrong.
Check your bank's website and there may be a link there where you can report these "phish" attempts. Their security division may want a copy of that "phish" attempt for their records.
So from online Bank of America, I was suppose to pay off my Bank of America credit card but I accidently clicked on to pay a Merchandise which showed up as Chase Membership Services(I have no clue why this appeared under merchandise). How can I correct this error and receive my money back?
Call Bank of America and explain your situation. You should be very clear that the charge was made in error as you had made an navigation error on their website and selected the wrong option. Ask that you would like to reverse the authorization for the charge to your account if this is possible. In some cases when you sign up for a service on the web, you have 30 days to cancel the subscription and request a refund.
Also, ask the customer service rep how to navigate correctly so that you can get to the correct web page or form to pay your credit card.
Then bookmark that page so that if you need to make another electronic payment in the future, you have the correct web page referenced or linked.
