Charter One Online Banking

online banking?

I recently opened up a bank account at charter one. I want to set up an online account so I can check my balance online. The problem is I changed my pin from the original i just got. So i clicked on enroll now and put in my new pin and it says error, so i put in my old one and its fine. Then i realize i dont want it set up through my old one. How long will it take for the bank to recognize i have a new pin or do i have to tell them? Will it hurt having an extra one enrolled even though i didn't finish setting it up?

I once had to call their On-line banking department to reset my password for my on-line account. If i recall correctly, I had to wait 24 hours for the change to take place.

I'd call them and straighten it all out over the phone.

What checking do you perfer?

I am just starting out and have gotten an account with Charter One bank, they gave me a mastercard debit and for the first month they put a hold on my checks. I didn't know this, and i would put my checks in the account, and use my debit card. Not only did they take the 2 weeks pay, they charged me so many fees hat it was unbelivable. They also waived a few, because they didn't make it clear to me what holding my check ment (if they told me at all).
The other day my balance online said I was overdrawn by $2 but i checkd it today, and it says that day I had $63 in my account. Why would my balance change that fast with no deposits or withdraws since it was overdrawn? I've gotten so confused with the balance changes even with no activity on the account, that i don't even use it anymore.
What are some other checking accounts that are used, and how do they work out for you? Just wondering if i'm the only person that has problems like this.

I use wachovia and am pretty happy with it. I think they have a low balance no-fee option for students. They may also have a general free checking option.

Maybe they fees caused you to be overdrawn and then they credited your account with the fees and that increased your balance. Or it could be a deposit that has been credited, but is not showing up online yet.
