Since the invention of the world-wide-web it is safe to say that, a lot of good things have come from it for example, instant resources, online banking, and the convenience of shopping at home. However with every upside there are usually some drawbacks as well, like credit card fraud or stolen identities, but I know what everyone is thinking, “these are the extremes, that can never happen to me.” What about social networking sites though? Facebook is a social networking website that lets friends and family stay connected, but most people do not recognize the dangers of Facebook. But what are they? Scam artists, sexual deviants, and the socially inept all call Facebook home. That is why Facebook has had an extremely negative impact on Canadian society.
Personal privacy is always compromised when online. We may think that we are safe from leaving a trail of what we are doing or watching, but someone is always watching whether its your internet service provider, viruses, or spy-ware, “Facebook is a safe and secure webpage that has privacy laws and regulations put in place”, may be an argument made by an avid Facebook user, but has anyone actually read the terms and regulations that everyone must accept before any type of account can be created? The sad reality is that Facebook has the rights to sell your information, photos, or anything placed on their website. Which is a direct violation of our idea of privacy but it is completely legitimate because Facebook users are too naïve to read the terms and regulations.
In addition to privacy concerns, another one of the main negative impacts has been, the use of Facebook to take advantage of people. Once again you may say, “I know exactly who I am interacting with” but are you sure the friend you have not seen in 10 years is on the other side of the screen, or is it a 45 year old pedophile. Again it is human nature to think optimistically as opposed to pessimistically, however the numbers do not lie according to John Cardillo a former New York City police officer, there are over 8000-registered sex offenders on Facebook. The scariest thing about this situation is that, Facebook is a safe haven for these mentally upset individuals, since there are no restrictions or criminal checks before opening an account, any one with a keyboard and mouse can open up an account. Why do we do credit checks before a person is approved for a loan? Well the answer is quite simple, we need to know if the person is good for the money because if he or she is not it would be a negative effect on the economy. While perfectly good people who have fallen victim to the struggling economy, are not allowed to purchase a home, there are sexual predators stalking young innocent children without any fear of being caught. Now tell me which is a more negative impact good people with bad luck or nasty people with no conscience.
Along with pedophiles on Facebook there are also many scam artists. Scam artists lurk in the dark corridors of the Facebook chat rooms, waiting for the naïve to exploit for their own person capital gain. An example from my own life is, I went onto the Facebook Marketplace in search for a car, and to my surprise there was a 2005 BMW 545i for only $5500; I thought to myself “what an amazing deal, these usually go for $50,000.” So I quickly pounced on this deal the way a lion pounces on a unsuspecting gazelle, but much to my dismay the person offering this “amazing deal” was a scam artist that wanted me to make a money transfer of the funds and then he or she would send my the car. What a pathetic excuse for a human.
However the most widespread drawback of Facebook that effects almost every user, is the time being wasted. Most users say that they just check their notifications and that’s it, but in reality most users waste their time scouring Facebook more commonly known as “Facebook creeping.” If we sit down and think how much time we actually spend on Facebook as opposed to something productive like studying, it would blow our minds.
In conclusion, Facebook has had some benefits, like keeping in touch with family and friends, but the negatives outweigh the positives. Would you rather keep in touch with your cousin through Facebook and risk the many dangers discussed above or just use the phone and dial his or her number knowing that you are generally much safer? Personally I would make the second choice each and every time, but much of society has become socially introverted and can only communicate through online communication programs, which is negative effect on society caused by technology.
Sorry, I don't want to waste an hour of my life but here's a brief outline of some mistakes that I found. In addition, I'll proof read your first paragraph because I only like introductions anyways.
Errors:
1. I don't know how formal this is but even if you do use 'I' where it's a personal opinion type of essay, the language should still retain a sense of sophistication.
2. OMG!!!!! NEVER USE IN CONCLUSION!!!! IT SOUNDS CHEESY AND TACKY AND HORRENDOUS AND REPULSIVE AND ABOMINABLE AND CONDEMNABLE AND IS THE SAME TO A WRITER AS A 7 POUND HAMBURGER IS TO A VEGETARIAN!!!
Re-written introduction:
The advancements of technology has provided rapid retention of information, global social connection, and a digital transformation of the perception of Earth today. As more and more people turn to machines and electronic apparati, the world has also implemented daily tasks into a modernized dimension: incorporating banking, shopping, and other chores into the 21st century. Even greater still, the social networking has experienced an exponentially increasing use of its offered services, fast becoming a booming hot spot in the virtual world. A well-known example of social networking is the popular Facebook, a site where friends and family can get and stay in touch with a simple typing of one's name. However, what happens when "scam artists, sexual deviants" and the deranged congregate in the unbiased and unguarded sites such as Facebook? Due to the dangers that Facebook poses and other underlying issues with online connection, Canadian society has been negatively impacted.
Sorry I got kinda lazy and didn't want to come up with a better thesis. So, yes, the thesis sucked. But, based on your writing "english essay," I'm going to assume that it's formal. I don't think that adding I, we, you, or any other personal pronoun is going to get you a very high grade. Good luck!

Because my answer is far too long for yahoo to accept, I have taken the liberty of posting it onto woofer:

This is my resume. I need to know what and how to say things on my cover letter. Three of the positions are the same company but with different names. They were bought out by the company above each one. How should I explain that on my resume? I need to let them know that I have a stable work history. My resume shows alot of entries but they were basically the same company.
