I live in indonesia.. My parents won't give me any credit card, i'm just a highschooler they said.. But i really need those things.. I can't find them here, in indonesia..

And i happened to know that my mom's debit card has mastercard logo on it.. The debit card is issued by Bank Nasional Indonesia (Indonesian National Bank), a popular and trustworthy bank here..

So, can I use it? And should I make a new account on my mom's name, since i'm gonna use hers? Or can i use my BCA (Bank Central Asia) debit card, which has maestro and cirrus logos on it?

Sorry for the long question, i'm completely new to this buy-things-on-internet stuff.. Thanks for the answers..
Made mistake.. It's not Bank Nasional Indonesia, but Bank Negara Indonesia..

Amazon (USA) accepts any credit or debit card with the MasterCard logo. They don't accept Maestro or Cirrus. Your mother's card will be fine.

Long answer: In the United States, debit cards with credit card brands have two modes of operation. The first is PIN-based, where the purchaser enters a Personal Identification Number. This immediately debits the amount of the purchase from the cardholder's bank account. PIN-based transactions only occur at points of sale where the purchaser is physically present with the card. The second is signature-based, in which the card uses the credit card processing network and the deduction of funds occurs later. The purchaser swipes the card through a card reader and signs the sales slip.

Amazon uses a card-not-present form of the signature-based transaction. In other words, it uses the payment network of the credit card whose logo the card bears. No signature is needed, but you do need 3-digit security code printed on the back (sometimes front) of the card.

You can use your mother's card to ship merchandise to you. Just enter your name and address in the shipping info, and your mother's name and address in the billing info. If you live at different addresses, the bank may hold the transaction until your mother confirms it is legitimate. (I don't think this has ever happened to me, but it's possible.)

That is my USA-centric description of things. Other countries have chip-and-PIN cards, which may function differently than what I have described. If you are using one of Amazon's non-US sites, they may have different payment policies than what I have described.
