Banks don't check your credit when you open a account they just check to see if you have any outstanding bounced checks then they can deny you for a account.

Hi everyone just want to know if anyone was aware of a basic bank account or any type of savings account that comes with a cheque book. I cant get a debit card due topoor credit but i managed to obtain a visa electron card through the bankof scotland. In th royal bank of Scotland i have a key account which is the most basic bank account, money in, money out, d/d's s/o's etc and online/telephone banking. I used to have an instant access savings account with the bank which came with a cheque book and a basic bank card but they stopped doing this a few months ago. Does anyone else know of any that exist?

I have a basic bank account with Barclays because I was in minor debt with other accounts (one was £100 which went sky high because of intrest and the other was £30 that got written off).
I have had the account for a year and a half and money always goes into it. I have my social security money going into it as well as my girlfriends work wages.
I just want a solo card to shop online.
Do you think they will do it? I have never got in debt with them and money is constant.
Not all banks do Solo. I think you would be better off with the Lloyd's TSB basic bank account. It comes with a Visa debit card that can be used worldwide, online and where you see the Visa sign. Useful when you are doing your shopping in Tesco and you want £20 cash-back.
If you go overdrawn by £10 or less, they write and tell you. No nasty £38 charges.
The card you get is fully embossed and looks like the standard Visa card. Important when you are in the queue in Tesco, nobody knows that you're not working. This last comment may sound daft, but some cards make you look like a second class citizen with no money.
We have to go with something national since we're going to be full-time RV'ing with my husband's job. These are the only two national banks with branches in our home city. It looks like Wells Fargo has more branches in the locations we're likely to be in. Our current bank only has branches in one state so we need to switch. We'll need to do online bill pay too but other than that we don't need a lot of extras. Anyone had both and have a preference?
Chase does not have a branch in our hometown.
