for college students, online banking is free and so should be your checking and savings. try Wells Fargo or Bof A. To avoid overdrafts
monitor your account online daily, keep a balance of how much you spend, especially when you are using your debit card.

My banks Online Banking Account is screwing up?

About a month ago i got a nasty virus that messed my computer up to where i had to wipe it out clean.
The next day after i fixed it I tried logging into my Online banking account( i didnt log into it when i had the virus. I entered the pass word wrong twice and i got sent to a page saying i needed to call the bank. I tried to reset my password also and it said my email wasnt listed in the system. Turns out my account was removed like it was never there. I know a virus cant do that to a banking account.
I resigned up for it and got a new name and everything.

Today i tried to login again and got the password wrong some how( i know i got it right). Now it's sayign the same darn thing.

Is it possible the bank is having trouble with it's system and not know it?
My husband has had this account for over 6 years and online banking for almost 2 yrs. They updated to a new security system with in the year, I personaly hate it. I need this online account.
closing out the account wont be possible, Im no where near a place to have the new banking information given so my husbnads pay will be alloted into our account, plus we have so many other allotments being taken out that I can not change any information on. Suks a bit for me. My husband is in iraq and i moved back to our home state until he returns.

you need to go to the bank and get this fixed they can help you.If not close the account out and go somewhere that will help you...good luck...because you should go in there if you have an password and a screen name...

Is there a way a banks online banking can save pending transactions until they actually post?

I use online banking to watch my checking account. Most of my purchases are made with my debit card any others would be made with checks that I have carbon copies of. I depend on online banking to keep up with my balance and activity.
Back to the question at hand....
My bank has a pending section that shows all your debits that have not yet posted to the account. For example, one day there will be a transaction pending (one that has not yet posted to the account) and the next day it will be gone and also not in your posted transactions. The bank says if the business where you spent this money does not send in the claim right away it will not stay in the pending section. Isn't there some way to just keep it in pending transactions until the claim comes and posts? Thus, keeping your balance in a constant updated state.

It would be nice if banks made a way for us to customize how our transactions are displayed. I worked in customer service for a bank and have spoken with customers who, like yourself, wanted their transactions to display differently. Only the bank I worked at let the pending items show for up to three weeks, even if the customer immediately canceled the purchase. So, in our case, the pending items took too long to drop off. Using online records of activity can be such a hassle that, anymore, I save all of my receipts and immediately record everything in a ledger of my own that I have created. It takes extra time unfortunately, but I know to the penny how much money I have in my checking account regardless of what is pending online.

What happens if I have 2 online banking accounts of the same bank accounts?

I was trying to make a online banking account for my mortgage because it didn't use to appear at first at my BoA online banking account, then when I made a new account the mortgage info appeared on my old account. I have now 2 online banking accounts that have the same info. Do I keep them both in case I lose one of the passwords?

You should straighten this out with the Online Banking department at Bank of America and not keep both accounts because the payments could become confused, or one system may not post properly, causing you to have late payments, or canceled payment notifications.

The system is set up to detect duplicate checking accounts and it will eventually give you a problem.

how exactly does online banking work?

i use bank of american and us bank. could somebody please explain online banking to me? and how do i do it? lets say i have a tmobile bill that i'd like to pay using online banking...do i go to the tmobile company or my bank?
TJ: so i wouldnt need to go to tmobile and do that right? i just go to my banks website?

Basically you're authorizing the transfer of funds from your account into T-mobile's. What you do is sign into your online banking through your bank, input the company's name (T-mobile in your case), and then you input your T-mobile acct. number. After this setup it's really simple. You just type the amount you want to pay t-mobile and presto! you'll get a confirmation number.

It's safe, and allows you some recourse if something goes wrong with the payment.

Online banking provides conveniences and so much more. Having an online account can open up new business ideas and tips for your use as your bank will keep introducing you to different ways to use your account. Some of your banks partners will reach out to you with various offers, unless you specifically pass on such services. We have been used to the vault kind of banking and no doubt about it we all know it is safe. It is okay that you feel reluctant in taking up online banking as you already have the safety you require from the vault kind of banking. Before waving the online issue off you should know that online banking, if not safer, is equally as safe as the vault banking and major online banks have also insured your money in a way that in any case of fraud you will get your money back with the adequate interest. Think about these with the many other online banking benefits before making your decision. There is usually a noticeable difference between the various banking needs among different categories of customers. For instance, an individual account holder requires different services from a company account holder. Online banking cannot cater for the various needs of the diverse customers no matter how much you can personalize it. It is therefore established that online banking cannot entirely take over from traditional banking. There is more to internet banking than just ease and convenience. To successfully bank online you need to be able to interpret the website of your bank, like know where and when to make payment, deposits, know if your money is increasing or reducing and understand what is meant by some banking terms such as – foreign exchange, credit line, etc.
