Banknorth Online Banking

How to keep my banking info private from my parents?? Esp what i order online with my debit card?

Hi everyone -- I have a TD Banknorth Checking Account that should only be under my name. I'm 19 years old so a legal adult and everything. The problem for me is that when I go to college, i get the monthly bank statements at home. My parents are really nosy and always just open the statements up, look at what I've bought and throw them out.

I'm not a bad kid or anything and I'm not buying anything illegal, I'm just so sick of hearing the "why'd you go shopping at American Eagle??" or "Who'd you take to this restraunt" blah blah. Please don't recommend that I talk to them about it... I've tried SO many times. The best thing would be if there was never even a paper copy. I'm really computer savvy, maybe there's a way to just do it all online??

Thanks :)

Check with the bank and see if they offer online only statements.

Is there any difference between TD Bank and TD Banknorth?

I'm trying to help my best friend. She applied online for a checking account at TD Banknorth (or at least that's where she thought she applied) and she received documentation in the mail from a placed called TD Bank. She showed me the paperwork that she received for her new account and this TD Bank has the exact same logo as TD Banknorth (who I have my account with), but it just says TD Bank without north at the end. The paperwork she received came from TD Bank in Cherry Hill, NJ. We're just trying to figure out if this is different from the TD Banknorth that I use. Is it the same bank? The account they opened for her is called "Yes Checking." The only branches we have around here are Banknorth. Can she do her banking at a local TD Banknorth branch even though this is just TD Bank? She just wanted me to help her figure this out before she sends in a deposit!
Well, thanks for the 2 totally USELESS answers! Does anyone actually have any information on this?

I certainly do! I work for TD Banknorth. TD Bank Financial Group, our parent company, acquired Commerce Bank headquartered in NJ (with offices in Florida, NJ, PA, NY, and DC area). We are currently going through an integration where we are choosing the best practices from both institutions. The former Commerce locations have already changed their signage to TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank. This fall, up north, our TD Banknorth locations will change signs as well to the TD Bank name. Your friend is currently able to bank at any of our 1100+ locations from Florida to Maine and use any of our 5300+ ATMs in the USA and Canada regardless of where her account was opened. I certainly hope this answer helps! Please let me know if there is anything else I can answer for you!

if current bank balance is $491 but available is -43? will i get overdraft at banknorth?

my bank overdrafted me. saw my account was negative this am -129 so i went and deposited $600+
then figured all was good and bought a few things at a conveniece store. upon checking my bank online i now see i have a $491 balance but a -43 available. does this mean i just bounced the convenience store purchase? if i make a paypal or online bill payment today that will just make me more negative?? my question is tho can they still charge me an overdraft fee since i deposited money before making payment? i need to pay a bill online so im curious, i dont want another overdraft fee.
i use banknorth in ma

My bank does the same thing.
I deposit my paycheck and it takes 5 days to be worth anything to them....they do this to scam us and they do it legally.....after all the people with the money make up the laws to protect themselves....democracy is only fair to those who's votes count as a vote.....my bank charges $33 for each returned check but wont approve me for overdraft protection.....you can thank the republicans for the war of mass distruction to our economy

TD Banknorth job application- social security number must be given?

I am so nervous about identity theft- I cant sleep.

TD Banknorth asked for my soc. sec. number on their online application and then once my info was submitted a funny promt came up from my web-browser questioning the safty of the website- I freaked out thinking the site had been hacked into and someone was stealing my info- so I called the company twice and both people told me that this is necessary and if I didnt feel confortable doing it online- I could go to the branch in-person.

I filed a complaint with their fraud department because I want to make sure this is all legit--and am suppose to get a call soon- I am just so scared that someone can see that info, and I have had it with banks needing my social sec. so soon in the process.

has anyone else had something like this happen with this company?

STOP FREAKING OUT!! , sheesh its just your internet watching your back so chill out, your probably one of those girls who just sit there worrying about nothing all day long while eating cold popcorn from a giant plastic bag, today your worrying about online crap tomorrow your worrying about how long your toe hair is getting, but then again you should probably worry about that

Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this email and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Please remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace.
