Can banks offering Internet Banking expect their customers to have GREAT Internet security protection?

Can banks offering Internet Banking expect their customers to have better Internet security protection than the banks' own protection? Details and sources please?
Can banks offering Internet Banking expect their customers to have better Internet security protection than the banks' own protection?

In this scenario the customer's username n password were stolen via a keylogger following which the perpetrator steals the customer's money. (How does this make a difference?) Can the bank insist that the customer's security be better than its own? (I'm on the customer's side)

Details and sources please?

No, in fact they assume you have no protection at all. The connection between banks and your PC is always secure, it comes with your operating system and browser - and if you somehow managed to damage your software so much it can't perform a secure handshake - you'll get an error message, simple as that.

However the real danger comes from software already installed on your machine (such as spyware and keyloggers) which steal the information before it's even encrypted and transmitted. Banks are finally coming round to this notion, and some (notably Barclays) offer extra pin protection to ensure the card is present when accessing accounts from home.

How do I configure Norton Internet Security so I can still do internet banking? Signed: Not a computer person.
Internet security

The program downloaded from the internet with no opportunity to set defaults - not that I'd know what I needed. The online instructions and articles are in computer-ees and I don't know what ftp or ports are, whether they're what I need to permit or how to access someplace in Norton enter something so that my bank's site will load. Whatever happened to entering a simple "exception" for a site I use and trust? Such as my bank for example... Between the bank site's security and this new software I can't do much of anything except send email! Please help me configure this software so I don't just uninstall and hurl it (the proabability of which I might add should be factored into ratings systems!) Thanks.

It sounds like Nortons firewall is blocking it. Go here it may help.

That is a bit of a vague question. And why invite people to correspond privately? Definitely a dodgy question. Be more specific about what you want to know. If it is legitimate info that most normal people would want to know, (and the info is available in the public domain) you can ask the question here. You also do not need people to correspond with you privately. If you have other intentions, hopefully the internet police will catch up with you...

Can anyone list the security questions of internet banking in UK?
keys

I am doing a research of internet banking. Someone may forget their password for internet banking, but still can recover it after verification of banks. Asking security question is one of the way to identify customers for banks, like "what's your mother's maiden name?" or something else. It's impossible to have each bank's account. I've already got two banks information, and I need you guys help. Just tell me what you know about these questions and bank's name. I really appreciate your help.
What I am doing is to know the questions, not the answers. Many banks will allow you choose your own security question when you are registering online banking. I only want to know what the question is and then evaluate its security level. I won't want to know the answer to its question.

Depends on the bank really and how that have set up their security.

These are what I have come across over the years.

Mother's Maiden Name
Fathers First or Middle name.
Memorable Place, Date, Thing.
First Cat or Dog's Name and/or species.
Asking for a character from a set password you made like what is the 3rd and 10th letter or number from 12 to 16 characters which wasn't in the main database.
Actual place of Birth.

My favourite actually because I was born in a place that does not exist now geographically and only my bank and I know it as all my immediate relatives are now dead. So when I call them there is absolutely no doubt it's me calling them!

HSBC internet Banking is asking for the second forth and next to last digets of my security number?
