Do you think this could be a scam? because what the are asking me to pay them couple of thousand pounds in advance for tax before the winning prize could be transferred to my account!!! What guarantee would I have that the money would be transferred to my account after the money that I am required to pay before hand ? No this is definitely a scam. It has all of the signs of a scam. There is no British Global Online Lottery or any other form of lottery you can win without buying a ticket. There exists a certain form of immoral degenerate that trolls the internet searching for suckers who believe that they have gotten very lucky and won a lottery which they have never entered. They will probably entice you to send an advance fee to claim your non-existant winnings and if you do send this money, you can kiss it goodbye. The money will likely be en-route to Nigeria, a cesspool of fraud that has been the center of these types of fraud over the last few decades. The best thing to do is to delete such emails immediately and to never reply to them. In some cases, people who travel to claim their winnings are taken hostage, and in worse-case scenarios are killed when whoever is paying ransom payments exhausts their money supply. If anything online sounds to good to be true it always is buddy. But this is simply advance fee fraud (a prevalent type of fraud which continously asks for money to cover unforseen expenses) and is intended to drain your bank account, promising money that simply does not exist. Hopefully, this answers your question.

We have a Cuisinart grind and brew machine at home. It is really nice and sits on the counter. I looked at the bank account online and saw that my husband has gone to Starbucks 4 out of 5 days this week on his way to work. Granted it is like $4.85 per trip and he'll probably go on the weekend too. Over the course of a year, that comes to over $1200. Coupled with going out to lunch on average of 3 days a week at around $7 and a $20 a week tobacco habit. It's about $3,300. In a 365 day period it is close to $10 a day that he is spending.

Granted he's the bread winner and makes most of our money, it still makes me angry because there is so much else we could be doing with $3,300. I'm not a wife that shops all of the time and I maybe get to go out to lunch with my friends twice a month. I know he has to eat, and the chewing habit isn't something that is going away anytime soon. (I've flushed brand new cans of Copenhagen down the toilet). What can we do to trim this down?
We're not struggling financially. I don't have to work but I'm a photographer on the weekends because I enjoy it. The money I make is chunks of $200 here, $600 there. During the week I stay home with our 6 month old son.

I want to max out the IRA every year. We have similar goals in putting away substantial money in money market accounts and keeping around $15,000 in savings. Save for the baby's 529 etc. Smart people have money because they don't blow it on Starbucks nearly everyday.
eharrah1 - I'm sorry I have to disagree with you. He makes the money and I'm in charge of managing it. Between the two of us we make about $6,000 a month. I bring home enough to cover a $615 car payment, the power bill, the cable/internet. We don't own our own home, so that's a big goal as well.

Have you considered that this is one of the only autonomous releases he has?

After I was married, my entire life changed. The budget became the center of the household universe and we focused entirely on goals, budgets, acquisitions on items that just do not matter (such as a Cuisinart grind). Let the man have his rituals, understand that maybe the money he is spending on his own self may be way of just having a little piece of himself.

Yeah it's a scam. If they want you to pay that would be a red flag for me. It it was really for taxes then they could just withhold it from your winnings and send you the remainder.
Also, did you enter into this lottery. If they are giving you something for a contest you didn't enter then it is a scam.
