Anyone have problems with Royal bank of scotland, Ulster bank or Natwest online banking card readers?

I got a card reader from ulsterbank for online banking security authorisation. It worked for a while but now it keeps giving me wrong codes and my card has been temporary blocked 3 times due to it. I have also had 2 new readers sent out and its doing the same thing. So it does seem obvious that its the card, but what could cause it if it was working fine and not working the next minute?

Anyone else have them problems?
Its not connection related, it states the authorisation number is wrong, and i worked for an isp so i know all about that stuff and nothings wrong there, its just the card im assuming.

Stop arguing with the morons and "loose" the card ... then they will have to send you a new one.

No technology ever works reliably on first 'launch' == you are unlucky to have a bank that has decided to use it's customers as guinea-pigs, so if you can't be bothered to help them 'debug' the system, change bank ...

NB. Most likley problems are Internet connection related ESPECIALLY if your connection is wireless (WiFi) or your home phone line has extension sockets.

student account help..with royal bank of scotland?

Hi, I applied for the student royalites account with Royal Bank of scotland online. during the application process it was clear i was applying for a student account, however midway through the application i was given a choice to open a key accountor cash account...i was confused as i thought i was opening a student account. as the application did mention student account i thought i'll just go for key account. today i received my welcome letter etc for a key account??? would the key account change to a student account for me?? or is the student account known as a key account?? I dont know if anyone can help me here and I have tried calling the bank but was put on long queue, all advice will be helpful, thanks

The Key account and Student Royalties are different accounts.

The Key account is a basic bank account which comes with no overdraft facility and a Solo debit card. These accounts are usually aimed at customers without perfect credit histories.

The Student Royalties account comes with an interest free overdraft, up to £2,500 dependent on credit rating. You will also get a Maestro Cheque Guarantee card, which is more widely accepted. On top of this the student account comes with benefits for students such as discounts at selected shops and nights out.

If you are a student who is about to head of to university, then a student account is probably more appropriate. To get this sorted you will need to contact RBS in some way, either by telephone or in a branch.

Problems with bank of scotland/halifax?

On holiday I bought a gift from a shop which cost £16.50, when i got home I checked my online bank account and seen that the money had been taken out twice, I called up the bank and they said as the money had already been taken out and i had to call the company, so I did that and the company checked all their records and said that they only got the payment once! What can I do now to resolve this and get my money back? Thanks

HBOS are good at this..they do it a lot..take your receipt and statement to the bank tell them you called the company only one payment was taken..the mistake is theirs..as usual and tell them you want your money back in asap..they done this to me..3 times..resulting in bank charges..i complained to anyone who would listen and got my money back...good luck

Can i order a debit card online? I'm with Bank of Scotland.?

It's nothing major or serious. It's for leisure. I am a teenager, and i have a bank book right now, so i already have the bank account. I just want a card so i don't have to go through the trouble of having to go to the main bank all the time to get a little bit of money out.

So can i order one off their website or do i have to go into the main bank?

As long as you're registered on their site you'll be able to order one. Registering is easy although you wouldn't get a password for 5-7 days, if you're not registered call them on 08456 020966

I'm signing up for online banking and they say i'll be receiving an automated call. That means what?

What is an automated call? I wont actually be speaking to a real person and will just be pressing buttons? Or will I speak to a real person and they will ask me something to confirm my identity? If so what do they normally ask? In case I need to find some papers in advance.
Its the bank of Scotland if that makes any difference xD

An automated call would be a call made by a computer. You still may be asked for information. You may also have to input information. So it would not be a bad idea to have basic information about identity related items. I don't know that it will make any difference bt different banks.
