I have the campusEdge package, is this good? And how long will it take to deposit a check over 10000 dollars from another bank? I mean for the check to clear?
Yes, the CampusEdge package is great. Any free accounts are worthwhile. I received all of my "stuff" over a period of 5-10 days. It seemed to come in various packages - not all at once. I was impressed with how quickly I received my checks and deposit slips. Your $10,000+ check will have a hold on it. All new accounts (for 90 days) will have holds on large dollar checks (unless it happened to be a cashier's check). (A frequent fraudulent transaction is the opening of new accounts, then immediately withdrawing the funds before the check has actually cleared.) They should make the first $100 (sometimes $300) available immediately but the remainder will have a 5 business day hold on it.

A couple different banks are online. Washington Mutual is online and you can open one there. You have to have valid credentials to open online if you don't live in the United States.

i use bank of american and us bank. could somebody please explain online banking to me? and how do i do it? lets say i have a tmobile bill that i'd like to pay using online banking...do i go to the tmobile company or my bank?
TJ: so i wouldnt need to go to tmobile and do that right? i just go to my banks website?
Basically you're authorizing the transfer of funds from your account into T-mobile's. What you do is sign into your online banking through your bank, input the company's name (T-mobile in your case), and then you input your T-mobile acct. number. After this setup it's really simple. You just type the amount you want to pay t-mobile and presto! you'll get a confirmation number.
It's safe, and allows you some recourse if something goes wrong with the payment.
I would like to wire some money from my account to my Father's account in Colombia. Would I be able to do that? How?
Yes you can, you have to go to retail bank or call customer service to initiate the transaction. There is some fee for wire-tranfer (around $10 for sending or receiving wire transfers.)
Online, over the phone, and in-person if you have a local branch near you.
