18, however an older parent can give a young person a credit card
Bank of America is put under the microscope for possible unethical business practices.
I canceled my checking account and credit card account but still don't know how to delete/disable the online access...? need help
ps: is it possible that it will disable itself after awhile if I don't sign on?
When I closed my BoA account, I could no longer access the online banking section. In fact I had 2 accounts with them and closed only one of them. I could not access the 2nd one either. So try to see if you can access the online banking.
i applied online for a bank of america credit card in november 07 when i got the card i also recieved a "my access bank card" from them i immediately called them and told them i did not want the bank account i already have one, and they said closed it i recieved a bank statement dated from nov.19 to dec 19 with a zero balance and i have not recieved another one recently. the account was only open for about a week until i closed it. does this mean it is still open? or is it closed? i only recieved that one bank statement
I would say the account is closed. The reason you received a statement is that your account was open during the billing cycle. Since you haven't received any more statements since Dec.19 the account is closed.
I have been trying in vain to obtain paper copies of credit card statments from Bank of America. Their website only gives the option to view them online, but they have disabled online access for this account, so that's clearly not possible. They would not respond to a telephone request, nor would they provide a mailing address for submitting a written request. The original statements were either never sent or lost in transit and I need new copies to investigate why the account was disabled.
P.S. I forgot to mention that I'm posted overseas for work and nowhere near a BofA branch.
Call their customer service # again. It sounds like you got a lazy CSR. They should be able to re-activate your account or issue a new card for the account. My wife's BOA card got cancelled a while back because she used it at TJ Maxx once upon a time, and TJ Maxx lost millions of credit card #'s somehow so many card issuers chose to cancel the accounts rather than get ripped off on the stolen #'s.
OK so I did something awful and illegal and I know it was wrong but I was really selfish and oh my god I'm totally screwed over.
OK so heres what happen. I'm 15, my dad is 56. I was greedy and wanted some new things and I knew he has good credit. So I went to Bank of America online, and ordered a credit card in his name and got one for me as an authorized user. I had it Fedex'ed to the house and I got the cards, activate them and all good. Went online to open and account for online banking, found out my dad had an account and the cards I got without his permission would show up on his online account. Then after talking to them, I got it so he couldn't see them. Oh thank god. Now, at the time, money wasn't the problem because I had this grand idea I would just pay the minimum payment. OK well, today I went to Manhattan and had myself a lovely shopping day, spent about oh IDK $3000. No joke.
So I get home, and dumb old Bank of America sent us another set of cards. This time dad found them before me. FUCK! So I was so scared, I lied threw my teeth and made up some story why they had my social security number and his and how it got here to the house.
He didn't really buy it but it got them off my back and he's cooled off a while and he's going to take care of them tomorrow.
OK so now I need help to clean up my lies. I'm really crying. First, I need you to yell at me and tell me how much I messed up and tell me what I did was wrong because I don't really feel bad, I'm more like scared.
Next, I need to get this account GONE so when he calls tomorrow, they won't tell him anything.
First, I know where he put the cards, there on the counter, he's going to work and my mom is already sleeping. OK so good. I'm going to take the extra cards and hide them. Then I'm going to call Bank of America and close the account.
Is there any way that when he calls tomorrow they (customer service) can act totally stupid and act like they have no idea what I'm talking about?
I'm so fucked and I know it but I can't admit what I did to their faces. I need to take care of this myself, I know I know but I need to.
OH MY GOD please help me. What do I do so he doesn't have access to the account. Whenever I call they say it all falls under the same social security number so the customer service rep has access to all of the numbers and cards, and I don't want them to help with this one. Jeez. I fucked up so bad. First, yell at me, then help me.
Maybe email me with help? Banking experts, please email me and help me. I know I messed up, now it's time to fix things. It was illegal and wrong. I'm more nervous and scared than sorry right now.
HELP!
Julia & Judy, you didn't help! I don't want that spam!
First of all, it's your Dad, not the gestapo. Come Clean. Confess it all to him. You're his child, he loves you. You are only 15, you goofed. He'll forgive you.
The bank is to blame, they shouldn't have made it so easy, anyone could have done it.
Nothing your Dad can do is going to be worse than the hell you're going through right now.
He might be angry for a short time but he'll cool off and work it all out with you.
We all do crazy things when we are young and I'm sure that your dad was no different.
as soon as you see him, take him aside and tell him everything.
No more paper statements? You could be missing new credit card ...
NEW YORK — It’s meant to jolt borrowers from the complacency of debt: A new credit card statement that spells out the price of making only minimum payments.
Yet the shock factor may be lost on the growing number of cardholders who bank online and no longer check their paper statements.
As part of the credit card law that went into effect Monday, banks are now required to present some jarring math. Namely, how much you need to pay each month to wipe your balance clean within three years, and how long it would take to be debt-free if only minimum payments are made.
It’s valuable information, but there’s a glitch for those who do most of their banking online.
