I am in US marine corps and have been banking with Navy Federal Credit Union, how ever I am about to finish my contract and unfortunatly navyfed dose not have any branches next to my house. So i need to chose another bank. I am thinking may be USAA becouse they are online and mail only. Or should I use something like Bank of America or Wells Fargo. Or do they reap you off ? I live in California btw, and only need bank for checking account I plan to keep my emergency found with vanguard money market account.
Any suggestions will help, Thank you.
Not-for-profit credit unions are the best financial institution around. You can set up direct deposit, and many of them belong to a network so you can use other ATMs at no cost. Branches are no big deal. Bank online with your credit union instead. It's safe, fast, and convenient. I agree with the other respondent that provided the link to a credit union locator. Talk with Navy Fed, too, since you already have a relationship there. Why mess up a good thing? They have tons of branches. Credit unions are not the profit-mongers that banks are. You'll find lower fees and better rates at a credit union.

Ive been with bank of america since high school and they are the only bank that i have used. I recently had some problems with them and spoke to every single department that they had even their online chatters. They told me there was nothing they could do and i had to sit and wait. So i told them i would like to close all my accounts with them because i have moved to a different state (TN) and California seems to have their own banking system out there. So when i go to the bank out here they cant see anything from my account even though they are with the bank of america company. The women told me that i was not able to close my account at the moment so i told her i would call back first thing tomorrow morning. The next morningn preparing for my call i tried to sign on and they just kept giving me the run around and then this online shat thing pops up so i push it and it disappears. I called and they put me on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes thinking i was going to hang up. Then i guy picks up the phone we go through all the checking to see if its me and then he tells me that all my accounts are being closed and not in the good way. I ask him why and he tells me to hold and then he says it will not let him see it. So i cant get any information from them.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Let me see if I've got this right - you called them because of an issue, didn't like the answer, told them you wanted to close all your accounts, and now are upset because they closed all your accounts?
I'm going to bet there's more to this story...
This was my last question: I'm 16 and my dad won't open me a bank account because he said you're supposed to have like a thousand bucks saved in there in order to open one. I have a feeling he's lying to me. Is this true? I think I really need one though because I just got a job and have no idea how to get my money from a check without one.
Now since we've established that my father is pretty much lying and being a jerk to me, I live in California and want to open a bank account at the Bank of America, can I do this on my own at 16, since my father isn't going to help me? Can I do this online? Someone walk me through this please????
I would go to the bank and ask them this question directly.
Yeah I recently purchased a vehicle on autotrader.com that switched me over to another site (ebay's protection vehicle program) and got an email from the seller and her husband to follow ebay's terms. The email looked very professional and had steps and stuff like the real ebay store, so i followed them and had my 8000 dollars wired from my wells fargo account to her male friends (not sure if its husband or boyfriend) account at Bank of America. The transfer was to another bank account here in the US (Georgia), I am located in California. I am a college student who was looking for a decent car and got ripped off. I have the guys name and the account number it was put into, can I use that in any way to track him down? Will the police be able to help me with anything? Should I contact the police here on campus or the police in Georgia? Any comments will help because I just want my money back. I'm already struggling being in college itself. Thank you so much.
You can try the police, though im not sure how far it will get you.
Though if it's an consolation, I knew someone once who bragged about scamming people all the time.
Then irony and karma came, he lost tons of money through something someone scammed HIM out of.
Hi there and thanks for reading, ...... Before answering the question .. Please know I live in Sacramento, California.
my question is:

2. Will I be able to open a Bank of America merchant account as a minor? (what will I need... The process of opening it?)
3. What tax forms will I need if I make more than the exempt amount of money.. (will my parents have to claim my earnings? ... What's the process)
4. Will I be able to have a home based business online and run it on my own or will my parents have to manage it?
5. Will i be able to keep my money that is made or will my parents have control?
-thank you once again for taking the time... Please bear with me as I am on my iPhone while typing this
-ANY EXTRA INFORMATION THAT YOU Can provide please do so it would be generous of you and kind.
Sorry, but you must be 18 y.o. to make a valid contract. That includes business license, bank account, credit cards - I hate to frustrate you - but you are still a minor and your options are limited.
