Bank Banking Online Suntrust

I just recently checked my online suntrust bank account transactions, and its showing I have 4 purchases today. It doesn't describe it or anything all it says is STB Check Card 08-25-09 03:59. I have no idea what they are or mean? Can some one PLEASE help me! Im really nervous someone stole my personal info.

"Suntrust Bank"(STB) ATM Card 08-25-09(Date) at 03:59(Time, AM).
Is it your statement date? The account is rolling and all fees etc are being calculated for statement closing.

You should call the bank and be sure

Suntrust Bank

I just signed up for online banking today and when i got to the 3rd page "services and agreement" it gave me an error saying "the servce your trying use is temporarily unavailable" or sumthin like tht. Does anyone know wat the problem is??

You may not be able to create a new account at this moment. It could be down for maintenance. I'd just try again in the morning and it should be fine again.

i was wondering, is applying online for these banks on their websites a good idea?....do they ever give you a call for interview?

Yes, I got a job at a bank by applying online. But it was by answering an ad that they put on craigslist. And if the websites you're going to have a link to apply with them, then I'm sure they do look over the online apps. Why have the link on their website if they're not going to look at the apps, right? Go for it!

i am going to buy a watch from japan and it says i will be charged in yen so i was wondering if i will be charged any money converting charge from my bank suntrust

Your bank may not give you the best exchange rate, and there MAY be a charge for "foreign transactions", but other than that, not really.

Ok, I logged in to my suntrust bank online banking this morning and found a pending wierd charge in the Amount of 1 dollar, the only problem is i don't hae an iTunes account, and no one in my family does! I've called suntrust customer service and they have put a block on my debit card and they will be calling me back later i think.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there anything else that i should do? Should I cancel my debit card and get a new one?

I had something like this happen with a relative, and you did the right thing by contacting the bank right away.

Very likely, someone managed to obtain your card number. Sometimes they can even do this by knowing the algorithms banks use to generate card numbers and they don't get it from you directly at all.

The person(s) then proceeds to try to run small amounts through to see if they get authorized. Sometimes they're guessing something like expiration date until they find the one that works. Charges are usually $1 or less, and indeed via places that sell mp3's and the like where that's standard so the low amount doesn't arouse too much suspicion. If they see the card is working for them to do such things, they'll eventually try to pull off a set of bigger purchases or transfers of some form, often suddenly and in bulk.

The bank will probably try to confirm that it's indeed not you using the card like that. They'll also likely issue you a new card (and number) in short order without you yourself needing to request a cancellation, and they shouldn't hold you accountable for the charge(s) you didn't do. They'll probably need to confirm activity on the account with you, too, to be sure what activity is you and what is someone else for their investigation.

Good move to catch such a thing and keep an eye on your account. Some people will brush off small charges like that just thinking it's a standard fee or something and don't complain as fast as they should, while their account is likely on the brink of getting hit for something a lot bigger.
