I've used Washington Mutual as my bank for over 5 years, but lately, I've been thinking of using their online bill-paying services. Does anyone else use them also? How reliable is the service? Have you had any problems? What about online security? Does anyone recommend a different bank? If so, why?
I have used Wamu for a year now, and my g/f has been using them for much longer. We both do online Bill Pay and the service is convenient, efficient, and best of all, free. Some other banks charge a monthly fee for the service (e.g. Wells Fargo).
There have been only one or two times when I found the site to be slow or unavailable. I was less happy with Wells, and can't speak for or against B of A.
The only complaint I have about online banking is that it makes it easy to NOT record your checks in a register, and so you may not know how much is in an account, and that could make you subject to overdrafts. Unfortunately, I speak from experience. Talk to your banker about overdraft protection to make sure this doesn't happen.

can i send money off washington mutual bank account online to my e-gold or paypal account?
Nope, you have to buy e-gold from a dealer. Find a reputable e-gold dealer. These organizations profit by buying and selling e-gold. You have to go through them to obtain e-gold and through them to cash out. They charge a fee both ways. Most e-gold dealers will have bank accounts an several banks. The one I went through allowed me to transfer money from my washington mutual account to their wamu account, and i received the e-gold the same day. I had to go to the wamu branch to do this. If you need e-gold for an online investment please be very careful as 99.9% of them are SCAMS!
hello,
I have to transfer 2,000 USD to China and they will do bank transfer. How do I go about doing it? Can I do it online? Can I do it by phone, or do I have to go to my bank in person? If I owe my supplier 2,000 usd for instance, do I transfer them 2000 usd or what? (Currency conversion)
Thanks
you can do it on line as long as your local bank have such a facility. But for the sake of safety i am not advice you to do that.
The most profitable way is to sent it using bankdraft, because the fund will be received a little bit longer, means that you can still use your $2000 for an extra few days. You may used Telegraphic transfer also, but this mode is slighter fast than the bankdraft does. You may transfer it in US$ term, means that you sent them $2,000
i went to one of the branches and asked them but they say i need to call custumer service and i did, but they say i need to go to the internet and it will tell me how to log in. but i cant even sign up!!!
i think i need to go to washington mutual again but i was just wondering if anyone knows how to sign up for SSN or ITIN??
1. You must have an SSN to open a bank account. To obtain SSN, you must be a US citizen or legal resident, or working on a temporary employment visa. US-born citizens' parents must obtain their child's SSN before the child turns 2 or the parents cannot claim them as a deduction on their tax returns. Legal immigrants must obtain SSN before they can start work, ditto for those on temporary employment visas. ITINs are for non-resident foreigners who have US income and must pay US taxes. ITINs are no longer issued to illegal aliens or others who are not authorized to to reside in the US or to obtain SSNs. So what are you doing here without SSN?
2. Washington Mutual went belly up months ago and was taken over by Chase.
(FED) Ben S. Bernanke - Semiannual Monetary Policy Report to the ...
Although the recession officially began more than two years ago, U.S. economic activity contracted particularly sharply following the intensification of the global financial crisis in the fall of 2008. Concerted efforts by the Federal Reserve, the Treasury Department, and other U.S. authorities to stabilize the financial system, together with highly stimulative monetary and fiscal policies, helped arrest the decline and are supporting a nascent economic recovery. Indeed, the U.S. economy expanded at about a 4 percent annual rate during the second half of last year. A significant portion of that growth, however, can be attributed to the progress firms made in working down unwanted inventories of unsold goods, which left them more willing to increase production. As the impetus provided by the inventory cycle is temporary, and as the fiscal support for economic growth likely will diminish later this year, a sustained recovery will depend on continued growth in private-sector final demand for goods and services.
