I am confused between ANZ and Commonwealth bank.I want to know which is good for its service,banking, finding ATM's around the city(Melbourne), internet banking and customer service.
Even in Melbourne, I'd recommend the Bank of Queensland. I've been with them for years; their service is great and always friendly and you can even call branches directly - they're all listed in the phone book. They have (I think ) 4 branches in the Melbourne CBD and 20 odd ATMs plus heaps of both in the suburbs. They also have an SMS 'locate a branch or ATM' service where you SMS the suburb name and postcode and you get a message with the 4 closest ATMs or branches. The bank doesn't charge for this - you only pay your normal SMS charge.
They advertise that they have the 2nd largest ATM network in Australia.
For various work reasons, I've had accounts with ANZ, Commonwealth and Westpac over the years and they're not a patch on BoQ for service.
Finextra: ANZ dumps M-Banking
The bank sent customers a letter last week warning that the service would be discontinued from 14 May, although its text banking and iPhone-specific offerings will remain in place.
M-Banking, which first appeared in a 2008 pilot, lets customers check account balances, view mini statements, transfer money and receive alerts. However, in a statement the bank says the majority of the features can be accessed through its text and Internet services.
This has contributed to just 0.6% of ANZ's Internet banking customers using M-Banking, says the statement sent to ZDNet.

Just update the internet banking UI and make it smarter and it'll look fine on your smartphone mini-browser. For the occasional times you need to do anything more than check your balance, you can get to your eBanking from your mobile. So the older style WAP banking presentation will die away, replaced with richer experience Banking Apps and updated eBanking.
