Is that the online account no.???

icici bank is best to open d mat account because of following reasons:-
1- It is also a broker so in icici bank or icicidirect a trading account link with your saving account is open jointly to your d mat account so you are able to done online share trading. Some other online share trading service provider like relieance money is not a bank so if you want to trade online with there d mat account you will must to open a saving account in axix bank or icici bank
2- It research service is best in research page of www.icicidirect.com you find so many updated tools to analysis a share.
3- If you buy a share online then it price is credited by your saving account automatically and if you sell a share it will be automatically deposited in your saving account
4- Dividend are also deposited most of companies automatically in icici bank saving account
5- In my knowledge only icicidirect is provide you a limit order service so you can place your order when market is closed.
6- Although brokerages is high in icicidirect but in view of it high quality online share trading service it is ignorable.

My father had purchased Andhra Bank shares much before the
DEMAT & Online Trading Concept started. How do I get these
paper shares converted to DEMAT form?

Since your father has bought these long back, it will be good for you to hold on. PSU banks are in for consolidation in 2009, when RBI has to relax norms for Foreign banks buying Indian banks. Andhra Bank is a well managed PSU bank, it will be great for you to hold on. If you want to sell, do it in 2009, when these PSU banks will be valued atleast at 2.5 to 3.5 times book Value.

So ask your father to apply for a demat account, with say ICICI Bank. Once the demat account is opened, it will take a max of 15 days, you can deposit the physical shares with ICICI Bank to dematerilise these shares, and soon they will appear in your dad's demat account. Post that, you can actually trade those shares, but my advise will be don't. You are sitting on good stuff, wait till 2009 consolidation happens in the Banking sector.

I very much doubt if this kind of overseas remittance/money transfer transaction 'directly' using a credit card issued by your Andhra Bank is permissible in India. All these cards are subject of RBI regulations and also governed by FEMA. Any violation may lead to serious criminal offence attracting heavy penalties and imprisonment.

Two safe options could be considered here. One, consult your bank and proceed complying formalities for remittance/money transfer through your bank account. Secondly, draw cash against this credit card, if such facility is available to you, and use such drawing for remittance. Avoid using Paypal/Western Union services etc for oversees outward remittances.

Oversees shopping/payments for services is feasible, subject to rules, using only international cards - through online or netbanking. However, direct outward remittances/ money transfers (without any shopping etc. transactions) using even international cards is prohibited. Consult your card issuing bank for re-confirmation and advice.
