Temporary Credit Line

Got a credit card that has a temporary credit line of $500, but a credit line of $1000. What does that mean? Is it just $500 for now and when will it go to a $1000? Thanks!

Yep, that's exactly what that means. when you applied for your credit account they felt that you are a trustworthy person and wanted to give you access to the credit ASAP so they gave you $500.00 to use for now but when your card comes or whatever the case may be you will have your full limit of $1000.00.

Keep your balance below 35%, it will put a dent in your credit if you don't.

I applied for a credit card at wal-mart because I wanted to purchase a TV. I got a receipt saying I have been approved but it gave a temporary credit line of $800 that expires tomorrow. $800 is not enough for the TV. Was it only $800 because it is just temporary or will it go up or can I apply for a higher credit line?

Your limit is $800 on both the temporary and regular line... and dont worry about going over with fees and interest, if you ask for the 12 months same as cash then there will be no interest, also there is a $20 off coupon behind the register be sure to ask for that.. it will reflect on your first months statement.

I have a $2500 credit limit. I am a student and have a job. Last month I requested for a credit line increase of $500 for a BofA card. I got it instantly but I need to increase it another $500 just to pay this month's rent. I will be paying most of the card off in mid-September because that is when I will be getting my money. Will I be able to get the increase? Is it better to call the credit card people or request it online and see if I get it instantly? Should I tell them about this (rent payment and will be paying it off in mid-September so need it on a temporary basis)? I have paid $500 just 2 days ago, bought a ticket for $500 and then paid another $350 back today. Will that help at all? I have paid all bills on time (min. payment) and sporadically paid $250 or some higher than minimum amount. I have never been late on any payments whether it be the credit card or a water biIl. it best to call and request it? Rent is due by 3rd September. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!
Had the card for about 9 months now. I do have another cc with a $2000 that is almost full too. I had to pay summer fees with that but am slowly paying it off.

You just got an increase. Does your financial situation improve such as your salary increase? You can try but I doubt that you will have another increase so soon.

You can try Personal Loans of various banks, but check if your employer has any loan programs first because this is normally a way to get better rates. Try to get a loan rather than a credit card, I believe it is easier to manage your total amount to pay with a loan rather than a credit card (interest, principal payments, etc)

If you get instant approval, you could have your card in 5 - 10 business days. If you talk to the representative from Bank of America they may be able to put a rush on your card and you could have it within a day or two. I have lost my credit card before form Bank of America and they overnighted me a new one. If you explain your situation, they maybe able to rush out the card for you. Good Luck!
