Credit Card Debt

Professional Student Line Of Credit

Answers

Can I combine my PC Home Mortgage with my Scotia Bank Professional Line of Credit?

I would like to get rid of my Professional Line of Credit (this was my student loan). I have around $40Gs left on it and I would like to put it on my mortgage and just pay a higher bi-weekly mortgage payment. Can I do this? and how?

You would have to refinance your current mortgage and use the equity in your home to payoff the existing loan, assuming you have 40K in equity.

Credir card Debt settlement and student loans!?

i would like to know...if you have settled your credit account in the past will it hinder your chances of qualifying for professional student line of credit? i settled my credit account of less than 3000 dollars a few months ago and will be needing to fund my med school education through a professional student line of credit fom the bank...but since my credit score isn't too great will i be able to qualify for the loan?

Most likely no. You need to take steps right now to raise your credit score.

How to pay a small debt with a collections agency?

I have a debt to settle for less than $200. I did not even know that this showed up in my credit history until I went to the bank to put in an application for a professional student line of credit.

I want to pay this debt (even though it's against principles because of some messed up customer service I received from Rogers) but I'm also on a tight schedule. School starts in January and I need to get everything processed in less than 2 weeks.

My bank's financial representative told me to pay it off over the phone using my credit card and also to get them to fax to me in writing of 1) removal of my negative listing, and 2) payment of debt. I'm not sure if giving out my personal information as such is necessarily a good idea. Please advice.

Well you can fax a letter to the collection agency offering a pay for delete agreement -- you pay $x and they remove the item from your credit report. Ask that an authorized agent of the collection agency sign and return a copy of your letter indicating acceptance of the offer. When you get the signed copy, mail them a money order. NEVER give a collection agency direct access to your bank account. I wouldn't give them a credit card either.

Even if all this goes smoothly, it is very unlikely the item will be removed from your credit report within 2 weeks. It will likely take 30 to 60 days before the collector updates and the item is removed. Perhaps the bank will accept a copies of your agreement and money order to show that the matter is resolved.

Was I out of line asking for photo credit?

i've been a photographer for my high school for four years (i'm a senior)... i contribute to the yearbook and newspaper (and am now the newspaper editor for the second year in a row). our school only has 100 students, so in years past we've attributed each photo to its photographer. We mainly use photos from student photographers, but we also have a friendly photographer from a newspaper in town who lets us use his photos if we give him credit. I plan to go to college and major in photography or photojournalism, and i take my photography just as seriously as professional photojournalists.

my yearbook editors told me today that they don't want ANY photo credit given in the yearbook this year (although they will still give credit to the photojournalist from town)... when i told them this renders the yearbook a totally illegitimate publication, the chief editor said it just "disrupts the flow of the page too much and it looks dumb to put photo credits in the captions." (looks dumb to put four extra words at the end of a caption! "photo by so-and-so")

when i asked our sponsor about it, she said that every photographer is still listed on the staff list at the end of the book, but that yes, no photographer gets individual credit for individual photos... (it has never been this way in the past)

i asked her if i could remove my photos from the yearbook, claiming that I don't want my photos used in a book without my name given credit, since this would make arranging a portfolio a little bit more difficult (since there's no way i can prove that a particular photo in a book is mine without a credit).

she said that i could take out all my photos as long as i still arrange my two spreads (which i don't mind doing), but that if i take out my photos from the whole book, i wouldn't be contributing to "the team." to which i replied that i don't want to be part of a team that won't give me the proper recognition.... to which she replied she can totally remove me from yearbook staff if i'd like... yikes...!!!

about an hour after we totally ruined each other's afternoons, i went back to her and apologized for my so-called offensive attack on her teaching and agreed that i will allow my photos to be in the yearbook without credit...

was i out of line complaining that i don't like my work being used without credit? or is it just as ridiculous as i think it is to publish a book without photo credits?
This happened during a meeting i had with her this afternoon alone... neither of us raised our voices and we both remained totally civil despite both of our extreme demands...

also, i suggested that she could give me a minimum of photos i have to submit and that i would meet that requirement, but no more than that... she said that i should contribute as much as possible to the team... hmmm anyway what do you think?
great idea deenie about signing my yearbook with my photo credit... and i will ask the student editor (instead of the faculty adviser) tomorrow about photo credits and explain the aspect of being able to look back on memories... thank you!! =D
huzzah phlezk! i like deenie's ideas as well as yours... tomorrow i'll also bring up the point that an index like that would be overwhelmingly easy...

when i mentioned this whole thing to my dad, he said that it's discrimination to give credit to a self-proclaimed photojournalist from the community journal and not to a photojournalist who happens to be a student as well... you're right, yearbooks have never been the ethical standard.... but that doesn't give them the license to be as unethical as possible...

Well it's yes and no. From what I remember, and I don't have any yearbooks near me, either college or high school, both of which I worked for, but I think that having a photo credit after every photo on a page, especially if there are lots of them, would detract from the overall design of the page. If there are few photos, or an especially large photo, it sounds within reason ti give a caption under the image.

If for design purposes this isn't satisfactory, they could do an index/directory/whatever. They have a staff list in the back? Great, now it's not too much harder to go page by page and give credit to the photographer. For example:

Charlie McRae; p1;4, p23;5
(page 1; photo four (reading top to bottom and right to left)
(page 23, photo five)

or any variation thereof.

No credit at all is pretty ridiculous, though then again, a yearbook isn't exactly a beacon of journalistic integrity.

I'd say fight for the crediting form I detailed here.

Get that resume together and see what happens. In pharmaceutical sales, appearance is very important. Go get a professional photo taken and use it on your resume. This is the kind of job that not only wants young and good looking but smart.
