I would like to get rid of my Professional Line of Credit (this was my student loan). I have around $40Gs left on it and I would like to put it on my mortgage and just pay a higher bi-weekly mortgage payment. Can I do this? and how?
You would have to refinance your current mortgage and use the equity in your home to payoff the existing loan, assuming you have 40K in equity.

My husband and I will be buying a small business (35 employees with a yearly revenue of approx 3 mil.) in less than 2 years. Some of the major suppliers are privy to this information and the lines of credit will remain in place. My husband has been employed with the co. since it's inception 21 years ago. I have been with them for 6 mos.I need to know when should we approach financial institutions and accountants to act on our behalf during the transition. The current owners are "owner financing " the business it's self and we will lease with the option to buy the property. This is not a public knowledge situation as far as other employees are concerned so there is very little discussion on the matter. We are working on an assumption that the current owners will be ready for retirement ,as they have planned , by Jan 1, 2010. Any advice is welcomed. Thank you..
You should talk to an accountant and a lawyer now to discuss this deal. Basically just tell them the timeframe and the basics of the deal and that you would like them to help you out when the time comes. It wont cost much just to get an hour or two with a lawyer and an accountant when you consider how much money they could save you with their experience.

I have 2 payments to my lender that were 31 days late (30+ gets reported). I have tried talking to managers on the phone, writing a professional letter, and offering to guarantee that I refinance my loan with them when my interest rate fixed period ends in a year, and they simply refuse to help me. I am trying to get a home equity line of credit to do some home repairs, and I am finding it nealy impossible to do so with 2 recent mortgage lates. My LTV of over 90% doesn't help things, but if I could get those 2 lates removed, I'd qualify for loans that go up to 100% LTV. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions as to what I can do to try and get those lates removed, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you, in advance, very much for your time.
Unfortunately, only the creditor can have them removed. Late payments on a mortgage are serious. If you truely feel that they are in wrong you can request your payment history from the creditor and go from there. More than likely, its not going to happen. You're going to have to make timely payments for a long time now and have a really good reason the next lender that is considering a refinance.

I'm a 24 year old professional and about a year ago I moved into my own place. Of course, I needed furniture so I applied for credit at a furniture store, got approved and bought almost $900 worth of furniture on a "no interest for 12 months" plan.
Well, I paid off the furniture in about 9 months and have had no other use for the card. I would've liked to keep it open, but its not every day you need to buy new furniture (and I'm not gonna go buy expensive furniture just keep it open).
So today I get a letter in the mail saying that the company has already closed the credit line (I thought they had to give me a 30 day notice) based on "Age of Oldest Retail Trade, Age of Oldest Trade, and Total Balances on Installment Loans."
How badly will this hurt my credit? After all, I owed them nothing, but I've always heard that losing credit, hurts your credit score. Thanks in advance to all who reply.
Also, I'm thinking about buying a house within the next year and a half. If I want to obtain credit from that same company for future furniture needs, will they likely re-open my credit?
Closing a "credit line" is not a bad mark on your credit score - not paying or late paying is. You're much too young to stress this way. Good credit is easy, buy a little, make double amount payments. You always have the option to search for better interest rates on your credit cards, and canceling a card after you've paid the balance off is not considered a "black mark".
