What negative affects, if any will a cancelled credit card have on my credit history?

My credit card account was recently cancelled by the credit card company due to lack of activity (I haven't used the card since 2005). I was a great customer. I never over-spent my credit line and always paid my balance on time and in full. When I received the notice informing me of the cancellation I called the cc company to resolve the issue. The reps I spoke to refused to reactivate my account or open a new one for me even though they erred and cancelled my account 4 days sooner than the proposed cancellation date noted on the statement. I don't really care about the account and stopped using the card due to the low credit line (I've been using a different cc). Still, I'm concerned this cancellation will leave a blemish on my credit history. If this is so how can I mend the structure of my credit history?
It was a VISA card from a small, lesser-known bank and the credit line was $5,500.00. I've had the card for 6 1/2 years if that helps.

If the card is already cancelled, then there's not much you can do. If you reopen the card, it will show as a new card and will hurt your score more than just letting it go since it's already gone. The negative side effects is that you will appear to be using more of your available credit overall since you now have less overall credit. If your card didn't have a large limit, then it won't effect much. Your average length of credit will be shortened slightly since the account, but it's not that you just opened and immediately closed it, so you won't be too bad off.

Will I hurt my credit by canceling my best buy card and opening a circuit city credit line?

I recently opened a best buy card to purchase a c.d. player, but two days later I found the same c.d. player for 400.00 cheaper at circuit city. It has not been 30 day since I opened the card and I haven’t charged anything to it. Will I hurt my credit by canceling my best buy card and opening a circuit city credit line?

Yes any new credit affects your FICA score for apprx 1 year after opening. Best Buy will usually match Circuit City's price within 30 days of purchase.

if you file bankruptcy do all of your credit cards get cancelled?

and what about open lines of credit? do the banks close them on you?

Probably but don't worry. You will find that you will have plenty of offers in the mail soon. The card companies no that you don't have any more debt and will gladly give you more credit. I found it was easier to get a loan without showing any debt.

Do "cancelled" lines of credit effect my credit?

I recently applied for a line of credit, mainly to see if I could consolidate some debt and save some money. After doing some research I applied for one and the bank came back with terms I don't agree to. I have a credit monitoring service and I received two alerts. One was for the inquiry, and the other was for a new account. I was puzzled by the new account entry so I called the bank and they are sending the paperwork and if I don't agree to it I just don't do anything and they will close the account. I figure that the inquiry is there to stay on my credit, but I want to know if the new account is also there to stay. I never agreed to open the account, only to see what they would qualify me for, this just seems a bit shady. I hope it doesn't goof my credit too badly.

I don't think it will in this case, the credit card account was just opened, when you cancel a credit card that you had for awhile that can affect your score because it's the longevity of your credit history that is also a factor in determining your credit score, you should read this article on maintaining your credit, the site lists several tips on how to do so, http://www.monitorbankrates.com/how-to-b uild-maintain-and-repair-your-credit

Dear Mr Levy - dml - Open bus parade cancelled in East London (2-0 ...

They were never in it. Very comfortable, embarrassingly so. Shame we couldn't carve up a few more slices of goal mouth action and stuff them, but can't complain at all. 2-0, another clean sheet and very little to complain about. No complacency at all, unlike what happened against Stoke and Wolves. West Ham were plucky in parts in the second half, but never threatening. Not helped by injuries, including the one to Scott Parker that appeared to play a part in allowing Luka the freedom of the midfield to race in for his first goal of the season. Welcome back little man. Modric (starting and finishing the move for that goal) appeared to galvanise one or two players with his mere presence. I guess the lack of Claret and Blue presence also helped, but credit where it's due. Huddlestone was influential, Palacios biting like a mosquito on speed. We'll have to perhaps wait a little longer to see if Modric in the middle and Niko on the left can work, but no doubt, the line-up that started did. demolition job here. Not that WH ever really looked like scoring anyway. But sometimes crazy shit happens, and you can suddenly find yourself pegged back. But I guess another positive about this Spurs side is that there was no collapse evident at any stage and in the end, we put it to rest with a great goal made by Defoe, for himself, teasing with speed and urgency outside the box, lashing it in, off Green and back to him for yet another lash - this time finding the net. Everything in between the first and second goal was easy on the eye. Highly enjoyable afternoon, but we need to discover the guile for that ruthlessness that turns this from a Sky+ recording of MOTD2 to club shop merchandise heaven.
