why is it that the discover credit card doesnt give large credit lines like american express? why is that?

are discover and american express chief rivals? does anyone know?

Discover card issues cards to all kinds of people including those who are establishing their credit so they tend to start out lower but as you use the card and build a relationship with them they automatically raise limits.

American Express issues cards to people with very good established credit so the credit lines are higher.

Discover and American Express issue their own cards unlike visa and mastercard.

Is it safe to appy a credit card on line from a not wellknown bank?

I received a lot of on-line offers to appy credit cards. I do need one now. Discover card rejected my application, I am finding some other possiblities. Yet, I don't know if it's safe to apply one over the the internet giving out some very important personal information. If yes, which one would you recommend? No annual fee, service charges, no hidden cost...thanks

DO NOT apply for credit cards online!!!

Those are mostly scams to get you private information and steal your identity!

Go into your local banks and department stores, gather the applications for MAJOR credit cards only (Visa, MasterCard--NOT department store credit cards!), and fill them out and send them all at once. There is help for you at: www.GoldenRocFinancial.com/books

I need help on which credit card i should apply for?

I'm a full time college student and I have a part-time job. I already have a bank account at WaMu, but I was wondering which credit card line i should apply for? I was thinking of either Capitol One or Discover Card.. which credit cards do you guy have? And how do you like it?

Get a card from your bank. Do not pay the balance in full, keep a small balance.
You establish a credit history and will develop a credit score. Once you get a higher score you will then be able to get a card at a lower rate. I have excellent credit and have a card I use for business that is 5.9%. I know people that have 20% or higher. Be sure to check the small print on the contracts. Watch out for those teaser rates and be aware of the following …. If you have one card that has a teaser rate say 8.9% for six months, etc.
If you are late paying any of your other bills or credit cards they can switch you to the highest rate allowable in your state. Be leery of the cards that give you a certain percentage back based on your spending, they usually charge a high interest rate and give you the false impression that you are getting money back when in reality you are paying more because of the higher rate. Shop around for the lowest rate. Good luck!

Will I get approved for AMEX if I got approved for a Discover Credit card ?

Hi,

yesterday night i applied for an amex true credit card and after i submit the application they said i will get my card in 14 days IF im approved. Right after i applied for a discover credit card and got approved for 1,000 credit line. I am tryin to build up my credit more. I already have two VISAS and i think one amex one discover and one mastercard will do me good. I am in control of my spending . so my question is if i got approved for discover do you think i would get approved by amex?

TP:
Depending on which Amex you applied for, I would not be at all surprised if you got approved.
Discover is notorious for being stingy.

looking to get a Discover credit card. Will this affect my credit score when it comes time to buy a house?

As of right now I have 1 credit card and a car loan under my name.

Im looking to sign up for a Discover Credit card as it offers 2% cash back on certain purchases and I shop at sams club frequently. I never go overboard with my card and I know to stay in to 10-30% limit. However , will getting a new card affect my credit score (690) and buying a house 2 years from now?

I'm looking for ways to improve my credit and I've read that if you have atleast 2-3 revolving credit lines it's better?

  • Disposable Credit Card Numbers - Quanrel Technology

Disposable diapers, disposable cameras- and now… disposable credit card numbers? They’re actually referred to within the industry as virtual credit card numbers, and are currently being offered through most major credit card issuers.

Virtual credit card numbers are single-use numbers that expire within a month or two of issue, and are used for shopping online in place of the number that’s actually on your credit card. What’s the point? The number is only good at the one web site where you make your purchase, and only for a limit period of time- so if hackers have obtained your credit card number during an online transaction, the next time they go to use it, it will not work.
