I've been in Telesales/Telemarketing for over 7 years and am currently trying to be hired for a credit manager position w/ Wells Fargo. I've never sold financial services/products before but am confident that I can be successful w/ sufficient training. If you have or currently work as a credit manager (selling credit cards, home equity lines of credit, auto-refi) for Wells Fargo what are some tips that you can give me so that I can improve my chances of getting a call back interview?
Think of as many questions that they may ask as you can and prepare for them. Be ready for anything.
To get a callback remember to thank them for their time, dress nicely but not so much that you risk looking superior to them. Comb your hair nicely and practice exeptional cleanliness. Send them a thank you note for the interview and call back a week or so later and aks if the position was filled, it shows commitment if you take it upon yourself to inquire.
with one of the largest mortgage banks, in the country ( Well Fargo) for 4 years in home equity and home equity line of credit department ...
Ideally: 1) they would be friendly and give excellent service. 2) they would NOT telemarket me. 3) they do not outsource their data processing outside the USA.
I live in the San Francisco area and primarily bank with Wells Fargo. The last time I had to go inside one of the banks, both the customer service and the security outside were far less than ideal.
I think with ALL financial institutions it is a craps shoot.
Yes, credit unions get a lot of hype - but even the best credit union could give you crappy service if your representative had a bad day. On the same note, I've found you can have a very positive experience with even the largest commercial banks (cough BofA).
As far as telemarketing - tell your representative you don't wanna be telemarketed - they are REQUIRED by law to honor this request though they may make you submit a request in writing first.
Most data processing CANNOT be outsourced in this case. Since HELOC decisioning tends to be rather speedy, most likely your bank rep will be entering your data right then and there (or later that day).
Hope this helps :-)
