We have plenty of equity in our home and my sons college tuition will be approx. $30000/year. Should I take out a home equity for the estimated 4 year costs, or take out a home equity line of credit and hope interest rates stay low?

I'm entering the final term of my college program, but am having second thoughts about my field. My student line of credit expires a year after graduation. Is it possible for me to extend it if I want to go back in the fall?
What do you mean by student line of credit?
If you mean your student loans....as long as your college considers you a half-time student (six credits per semester if you are an undergrad), your student loans will stay the way they are right now. It's only after you drop below halftime status that the clock starts ticking.
Between taking personal line of credit or student loan, which is a better option? (I know both are debt instruments)
Typically private student loan tend to offer a higher interest rate than personal line of credit. And it is easier to get personal line of credit than a student loan.
Are there any catches in both the option? Any do's and don'ts ?
Looking for additional inputs on this topic.

My wife needs an on-line computer class - undergraduate for credit. Any suggestions???
Check out what Phoenix On-line has to offer.
Good Luck!!!
I would say the college loan is better, if you default on a HELOC well then the bank can take your house away. Your daughter will have time to pay off a college loan after graduation, i believe the interest dies not kick in until that time (the high interest anyway).

Student Credit Card - Is It A Bad Or A Good Thing? | Smart eCredit
If you are in college, then I’m sure that you must have a student credit card or you must be thinking of getting one just as I did when I was in college. It has become so very easy to get one. You can even apply online in a safe and secure environment. I can remember my first day going through the registration process. At one of the tables, there was someone taking registrations for students wishing to apply for credit cards. There were ads all over the place encouraging students to apply for their card. Based on all that I have read about credit cards, I thought it was a good thing to have. I must admit though that one of my main reasons for applying for one was because all of my other peers had one.
