Check Credit Line Rating

There appears no system in vogue as of now for public viewing of credit rating on line in India for Indian citizens/residents.

I can understand why credit card companies do this. They check my report periodically to see if I'm eligible for credit line increases, and also may raise interest rates if negative information appears. The auto loan is a fixed interest rate. I am current on my auto loan. Why would they care if I am current with my other creditors?

In addition to what's been mentioned, they do so for promotional reasons - to decide whether to send you "preapproved" credit offers.

will closing an unactivated visa credit card affect my credit rating a lot? i'm young, in college, and the credit line is for $1000 w/ cash access line $200. i have a checking a/c and another credit a/c. i was stupid and signed up for this - it has an annual fee of $80 which i would like not to pay. i don't really care about my credit rating in the short term (5 yrs) future though. thanks!

a friend of mine told me that i could ask a bank to release my credit line money as cash to my checking account. i think the rate is like 7%. in this case wouldnt be smart to pay off my credit card debt which is at 19% with my credit line money? any hidden traps here?

1. Check for any extra fees or annual charges the bank may impose. 2. If I understand what you want to do you are replacing an unsecured loan, albeit at a lower rate, with a loan backed by your house, 3. The real trap is that you probably will continue to use the cards thereby running up a new balance while still having the original loan due.

I just checked my credit report, and it's a 589! It said I have 0 negative items, and 27 items in good standing. About 10 out of the 27 items were student loans that added up to about $25,000, 2 of the items were credit cards that added up to $5000. I've never been late on any payments, and I have no idea why my credit rating is poor. Is it because of the ratio of how much I have in comparison to the lines of open credit?? Like, if you oh more than 50% of all your lines of credit, does that knock it down? I'm going to be paying off these credit cards very soon, how many points do you think it will increase once I pay them off? Thanks

First of all you have a lot of accounts -- thats the biggest problem I see here. You should consolidate all your student loans into one -- this will boost your score... also $5000 is a lot of debt to have... a big chunk of your credit score is calculated by what's know as the debt to credit ratio. You should never use more than 20% of your available credit.. This is also impacting your score. There are a lot of things you can do now to help though.. check it out...
