Capital One Credit Card Payment On Line

Credit Card Minimum Payment Went Up...?

Ok, so I've had my Capital One credit card for about a few months now and been using it frequently. I have about $750 on the card and the credit line is $1,000. I used to have a minimum payment of $15 but it went up to $23 and then $28 last month because I charged it more for the holidays. Here's my prob...I was busy with finals at school and stress at home and forgot to pay my minimum $28 payment and they raised the min. to $75 a month. I believe I was 30 days late. I know that's not good news but how bad is it really? Is this going to affect my credit score a lot? This is my first credit card. Do they give you a chance to redeem yourself?

So this doesn't happen again, should I make payments of like $25 dollars a week every month so I don't get behind on payments? Would that be a good idea? Or better to just pay the full 75 monthly?

Please help!

It most likely just went up to $75 because they combined 3 things. You owed them the past due amount of $28 plus the next min payment of $28 plus a late charge. So if you pay the $75, it should go back down to your minimum. The min went up because your balance was up. It is going to change depending on what you spend.

Once your balance goes down so should the min. payment.

It is possible that now since you were over 30 days late, they have upped your APR.

Getting sued by Capital one over credit card?

So I just got served papers that tell me I am getting sued by Capital One for an old credit card with a credit line of $2000.00. The amount they are demanding is a little over $3000.00 plus atty fees and such. They also had attached a copy of a previous statement. I had stopped making payments on this card about a year and a half ago due to financial hardship. During this time I had been diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder, and through much therapy, I am doing great. I just landed a very descent job...but now this!

I guess my main question is this, if I have been served, is there any way to stop the proceedings by negotiating? Or if it has already been filed, is it basically up to the judgment? Also, the court date is set for 03/06/2009 but I just received the summons yesterday 02/25/2009...that doesn't give me much time, do I have any rights to get an extension? I am positive the debt has been charged off, and it's not capital one that's suing, it's some attorney's office a few hours away. What are your thoughts?

Call the attorney office to find out who you owe the money to. Charged off doesn't mean you don't have to pay they can still collect but they did an accounting entry. The only thing charged off does is mean they have a policy or law saying they must not count your debt to them as a asset. Capital One should be able to tell you if they sold the debt and to whom.

If they go to court they will get a judgment and garnish your pay.

Received Summons From Superior Court To answer to Capital One Credit Card DEFAULT.?

Okay, here goes.....I really screwed up with my credit and have been doing all I can to pay down as much as I could pay. Well, Capital One is way behind I today I received a summons from the Superior Court to answer to the complaint that Capital One has made. If I fail to answer a judgment by default will be taken. I tried to contact the attorney that is named on the summons and the person I spoke with was asking all kinds of questions about my employment, my home address and phone number I gave her everything but REFUSED TO GIVE HER MY EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION...(I was afraid they would garnish my wages and God knows I cannot afford that) I told her I may end up filing bankruptcy and she really got nasty and said the judgment will already be in effect b4 i ever get a chance to file. Then she was really rushing to get me off the phone. She asked me 2 times about paying off the balance and I told her I could not and she said well if you give me your information of employment I may get you on a hardship case. Set payments??? I ask her what that consisted of and she said give me your employment info. and i can see if you qualify. Again I said "I don't like giving that kind of info on the phone" she got even NASTIER and said since your refusing the hardship program we can't do anything for you. I told her I was not refusing the hardship program I just want more information on that. She quickly gave an brief description and I told her "gosh I don't know, what does that do as far as this summons and she said just think this over and get back with me tomorrow. She quickly gave me her direct line and I ask her hours and she said she would be there tomorrow at 8am. I ask what time do you leave she said USUALLY AT 4:45pm. (very nasty) Of course it was 4:46PM that exact minute. Now I cannot pay the balance or anything of that sort....I would try to pay a monthly amount but I don't want to promise anything that I can't do. Help what do I need to do. PLEASE THIS IS VERY URGENT I HAVE A VERY LIMITED AMOUNT OF TIME TO RESPOND TO THIS SUMMONS!!!!!?????
One more thing.....i did contact them to make arrangements last year and they kept giving me run around answers. I ask to speak to a supervisor and they couldn't find one right now but took my number and would call me back with a manager but of course they never did, this happen 2 different times.

if you file bankrupt everything will come to a halt so file asap to save you time and money dont wore about what was said on phone a bankrupt lawyer will take care off it ive been there act fast good luck so when you get up in morning have a bankrupt lawyer on the phone and set it up and it will all go away

Why is my available balance higher than my actual credit line?

I have a capital one credit card with a $500 credit line. I was maxed out and I made a payment online with check for $500. I called them up and they released the funds instantly so I had my credit line available again. When I logged in just now it says my available credit is $701 (i've spent about $300 already). Whats up with this?

You just got a credit increase.
Since you paid off the entire amount, it triggered something in the system to give you an automatic limit increase.
Kudos
If you charge another $500 and pay off the entire thing in a single check again, you will see another increase in about six months.

I got two credit cards from capital one?

I got two credit cards from capital one and Im doing the credit steps program. When you have the card for the first 3 months in good standing the credit increases another $500.00 and after another 4 months it increases again another $500.00. For the first year it is 0% interest and after that I think it goes 7% ot 9%. I never pay interest because I just pay them off almost instantly after I use them. I Just keep the account revolving in good standing. It has improved my nonexistent credit a great deal by doing this, but my husband fears that the cards have small print that will get me in trouble. I told him "I pay my bills on time and never go over a 3rd of the allowed credit line. I would only get in trouble if I did not pay my bills and over extended myself".

After having the cards for over a year my payment history is exemplary, but now my husband wants me to close the accounts. He also wants me to read to him, all of the small print in those books that come with the cards. I don't get it. You pay your bills on time and do not overextend yourself by buying when you don't have the money to pay for it. Wont closing the account hurt my credit?
You did not read it correctly Hisamazing...
I said that I never let interest build on my cards. I have never paid a cent of interest in the entire time I have had the cards. I have also never put more than $100.00 on the cards that I did not pay off the following day. If I follow the rules and pay my bills on time how could I get scammed or taken advantage of? I think to many people out there do not know how to use credit and when they misuse it they refuse to take the blame for their own irresponsibility.

If he wants to know what the fine print says, he should read it himself. As long as you are being careful about your spending and paying your balances off every month, credit cards can be a great thing. By establishing GOOD credit, you will get better interest rates on car loans, personal loans, mortgages, etc. You stand to save thousands of dollars in the long run (as long as you continue to use no more than 1/2 (ideally 1/4) of the credit available to you and pay your balances off each month, never missing a payment).

People get into trouble with credit cards when they overspend or miss payments. It can cost you hundreds of dollars each month!

As long as you are careful, you need not worry about most of that fine print. Still, it's a good idea to read it thoroughly, in case you do find yourself in a bad situation.

If you cancel accounts less than three years old, it actually reflects NEGATIVELY on your credit report.

Capital One's SmartCents Review | Credit Karma Blog

Capital One’s SmartCents program is making it easier for consumers to tuck away more money in their savings, with the help of Capital One chipping in a few cents.

SmartCents enhances your savings for certain transactions you do on your checking account: for every debit card purchase, online bill pay, or direct deposit, Capital One automatically transfers $.50 from your checking account to your linked savings account, plus Capital One will match 100% of your SmartCents transfers for the first three months, and then 5% after that. Now, if you aren’t a heavy debit card user, the 5% matching contribution may not provide enough benefit to switch to Capital One. Or if you have a hefty-sized checking account, a high-yield checking account or money market account may grow your money faster with high interest.
