Bank Of America Credit Card Pay On Line

Answers

Help me with credit card stuff (Bank of America, Credit union, and APR)?

Alright, I have a decent credit score 650-750 depending on who reports it and such.
I currently have a Bank of America mastercard (its the alumni line) that I pay 14.89% APR on. I just bought a laptop and a computer and I need to manage that. I just got a Platinum application. They say they can't do a balance transfer because its a bank of America Card already. (WHAT?) I pay my bill in full on time 98% of the time. This big purchase just has me worried.
So. the place I work at has a credit union, but they said I can't get a credit card there because I need to work at the place longer. (OK whatever).
Anyways. I need a better card. Can anyone recommend some good cards, low APR, and with 0% on balance transfers for a year.

In additional if I apply for a new card with a new company (ie. Discover) how bad is that for my credit? What is worse then? Having the new card AND the bank of America card? Or should I then cancel the bank of america card?

Having more than one card open is good for your credit. I would suggest getting a card that offers 0% APR for 12 months so you can save on interest while you pay your balance off. You can find one of these promotional cards at the following site. Dont go with BofA, they are too annoying with their policies.

Credit Card - Bank of America JEFF CRAWFORD Update!!

Bank of America's Jeff Crawford in charge of the existing credit card accounts for the bank responds to my request to discuss credit card ...

My bank of america credit card had a limit of $600. now it has a limit of $1200. why is that?

i never asked for a credit line increase.
and i have never paid my bills late.

From an ex bill collector for them. Be aware... yes you pay your bills on time which is great, but it means that they see that there making money off of you and want to make more. They do this so you keep a higher balance and make more interest off of you. Try this, when they give you a credit line increase call them and request a lower interest rate. Tell them if you qualify for a line increase it must mean your a good and low risk customer. Therefore deserve a lower rate. I've seen it done. Might not happen every time but worth the try. You would be surprised what they will do to keep your money in their portfolio's lookes good with the shareholders.

Platinum Plus Student Credit Card (Bank of America)?

I applied for a credit card online and got it in the mail today. I'm in college right now. The only reason I want a credit card is to build a credit score (or for an emergency). I usually pay my tuition/books/gas/etc. with my Mastercard Debit Card. Now that I have this credit card ( I havent activated it or anything yet) I have tons of questions, since I know nothing about credit cards, so here it goes...

1. Since my main reason for it is to build a credit score, how much should put on it a month?
2. Is it better to pay the minimum amount due, or the whole thing a month?
3. How to I make a bill payment? I don't have any checks-do I need those to make a payment? Can I do it online? Can I make a payment using my debit card?
4. It says the credit line is $600-does this mean thats the minimum amount I can put on it a month?
5. Not sure what my interest rate is. What should I know about interest rates?

Anything else you think I should know, please tell me because I'm kind of in the dark. I'm afraid to ask my dad anything, because he just yells at me. I just don't want to activate it until I know what's going on.

Thanks in advance.
I didn't ask your opinion about whether I should activate it or not.

Hey Sarah,

I'll give it to you straight forward. I HATE when people tell you to not use a credit card. These are the same people who don't know how to use one properly.

Here's your answers --

1. Since my main reason for it is to build a credit score, how much should put on it a month?

Building credit takes time. When I first started, I just put about $25-50/month on the card. Make sure you pay it back in full and never miss a payment. Your credit score will slowly rise :)

2. Is it better to pay the minimum amount due, or the whole thing a month?

It's always better to pay the whole thing, if you don't, you're going to pay interest rates. Pay in full, you don' t have to pay any interest rates.

3. How to I make a bill payment? I don't have any checks-do I need those to make a payment? Can I do it online? Can I make a payment using my debit card?

There are a few ways you can pay. You can either pay directly on your account online. You can link your checking/savings account to your account and they can simply withdrawl their cash. You can use what I do and pay via billpay.

4. It says the credit line is $600-does this mean thats the minimum amount I can put on it a month?

That's the maximum amount you can put on your card. Don't go over this per month or you'll pay a over limit fee. Just spend what you can afford.

5. Not sure what my interest rate is. What should I know about interest rates?

An interest rate is going to applied to the balance you don't pay off. Let's say your bill is $50 and you only pay $25, the interest rate will be charged onto the $25. If you pay in full all the time, you won't have to worry about this.

Good luck with your first card, they really do have a lot of rewards. Just spend what you can afford and do it on time :)

What is the best credit card with low APRs that updates you on your credit score?

I already have a bank of america credit card but as for now they won't increase my credit line is there another credit you think is good that i can get? I always pay ALL my bills on time.

The easiest right now since it's Christmas is a department store...

Appeal Bank of America's decision to close my account/lower credit line?

Today I found on through phone conversation that my Upromise credit card was going to be canceled and that my other Platinum card with them(Bank of America) now has a dropped credit line by 50%. I have been crying and upset about it because I do not understand why. I have paid every bill on time, never been over ANY limit on ANY account (checking, savings, credit). They wre the ones who kept pushing me to have a 4500 credit line at 19 years old. They said it is because I have used the card too much. First of all, I have used my credit card accounts because I know that I am going to pay the bill each month, no matter what.So I knew that way I could build my credit for the future. I also used my credit card accounts because I do not have a consistent job right now, but I still have about 800 within my checking/savings and I used that to pay my bills and things I had to pay ASAP. Now they go & tell me this crap.
I'm so angry/upset now and they told me they are mailing me the reason why on paper and they said there will be info about how to appeal it.
My question is....has anyone ever appealed a BOA decision or any bank decision, has it worked, is it difficult, and what would I have to do?
thanks in advance...

You do not have a consistent job hence part of the reason for the lowering of your limit.
