please explain.
they both have a job title as "financial adviser" ..... how and why do they differ in what they do?
how much does their pay or income differ ?
and why and how do they consciously or not consciously take part in Ponzi scheming their own customers?
actually the term "financial advisor" is partly regulated as in order to use that exact verbage there is a particular license one must hold via FINRA
the pay can differ dependent on if they are associated with some program similar to like an edward jones, or bank investment program where they don't get 100% or as close to that figure of the production they do, if they are not associated with some brokerage house/program and its their company they would pretty much get all that production
the main difference between a bank "financial advisor/financial consultant" and a non-bank "financial advisor/consultant" is based solely on the location of their desks in actuallity they each do the same thing and same access to same stocks, mutual funds etc etc....
A personal financial advisor's job description is providing financial guidance regarding savings and investments. Get a complete job ...
I'm looking into this career, but i'm not really sure of the job description, so if anyone IS a financial advisor or knows a financial advisor, feel free to give me any info/ opinions about the job. Thanks in advance!!
If you want to work on commission (typically) until you get a client base big enough to make it so you're not prospecting and working 70 hours a week just to pay the rent - good luck.
I’m currently in school majoring in Finance and getting my minor in Economics. While trying to find an entry level position with a finance company in the Tampa, FL area, I came across an opening at Edward Jones for a financial advisor. However, while reading over the job description it sounds a little like one of those “work form home, own your own business” kind of jobs. Does anyone know or happen to work at Edward Jones as a financial advisor? I don’t want to waste my time or theirs. Thank you
bzzzttt!!! wrong to the person who said Edward Jones Co was aquired by Wachovia. That was AG Edwards. Edward Jones is a Limited Partnership owned by employees. I believe they have more brokers and more offices than any brokerage in the United States. They are as legit as any firm you could work for. It really isnt the firm someone deals with that matters , it is the broker they deal with. That could be you amd it could be at any firm including Jones.

The Fast Track » Researching Your Worth? Beware Online Pay Scale Sites
Payscale.com and Salary.com are not accurate benchmarks for independent advisors and their Next Gen employees.
When the Next Generation needs an answer they Google it. So it’s not surprising to me that they have turned to human capital Web sites such as Payscale.com and Salary.com to get quotes on what they “should” be getting paid by their independent advisory firm owners. This month, after a slight bombardment by firm owners asking me if I believed the ranges were accurate, I decided to do a little study of my own.
I went to Payscale.com and benchmarked the pay range for an “Associate Advisor.” Payscale told me that the median base salary is about $57,000. Based on the basic job description they gave for an “Associate Advisor” it would be comparable to a “Support Advisor or Paraplanner” in the “ 2009 FA Insight Study of Advisory Firms: People and Pay ” which shows a median base salary of $47,000. Additionally, if I went to Salary.com and searched for “Associate Advisor” the job title does not exist. But a comparable title based on the description is a “Financial Analyst” which listed the median base salary as $58,000. When testing other similar cases, even the job title “Financial Planner” (i.e., Lead Advisor) my results still showed an inflated difference of 16% to 22% higher than the ranges of comparable industry studies.
