I am screwed and see no way to pay for college?

im 18 and my parents refuse to give me any tax forms for financial aid and i have no income because of this shitty economy. i haven't had a job more than two to four months at a time because of high school or moving. i have absolutely no credit and i have no family to cosign. i haven't no conceivable way to pay for college but to work which is almost impossible to find for a lowly high school graduate. student loans are no way possible because my credit is non- existent. the government really sucks by making us be 24 to be independent and i don't have the money or anything to try and show that i am independent. this really sucks because i need school and there is no way possible to pay for it. the financial adviser said to get fasfa or private loans which i cant either and i have a 3.2 GPA. it is only an as in massage therapy and i cant even afford it. this world sucks when ur legal age to go to war but not be independent for fasfa. if anyone at all knows how i might find a loophole to get college please let me know because i am very depressed over this whole situation.
my parents wont give me any info because they don't want to be financially responsible for me. all because it is so hard to find jobs and they are afraid that when i do get a job ill loose it again and they have to foot the bill. i understand there concern but i am borderline homeless and living with a friend right now because i got evicted because i got laid off.
well they are afraid for some reason that if i default on a loan that they are partly responsible. thanks for the speedy responses and ill take a look at those websites

There is something you can do, but you may not like it. There are only a handful of ways to become independent for the FAFSA: turn 24 (which you already know), have your parents die (not recommended), get married (also not recommended), or join the armed forces. I hate to say it, but if you're having trouble both with finding a job and getting your parents to fill out the FAFSA... the military is your best bet. It's a job, and it will make you independent for FAFSA purposes when you've finished your time in the military. Maybe it's not something you're willing to do, but... it's an option.

Is Paul Krugman full of crap up to his eyeballs or just plain lazy?

■"In Britain, the government itself runs the hospitals and employs the doctors. We've all heard scare stories about how that works in practice; these stories are false."--former Enron adviser Paul Krugman, New York Times, Aug. 17
■"It was a simple thing. Another blood test, some more investigations into whatever flawed gene or missing protein might be the cause of my daughter's troubled life, with her terrible seizures, her blindness, her inability to walk or talk or eat unaided. Over the past 15 years, there have been many such attempts to identify her condition. One year later, we asked the doctor, a top geneticist at one of the world's most famous hospitals, what had happened to the results. His office told us a rambling story about financial restrictions and the need to send such tests to a laboratory in Germany. They said there was little he could do but promised to pursue our case. It was a bare-faced lie. The precious vial of blood had been dumped in storage and forgotten. The following day it was despatched to a laboratory in Wales and 40 days later the specialists came up trumps. They identified her condition, an obscure genetic mutation called CDKL5. . . . The most shocking thing was not the lying. Nor even the incompetence. It was our total lack of surprise at the turn of events, since after 15 years suffering from the failings of the National Health Service we are prepared for almost any ineptitude."--Ian Birrell, Independent (London), Aug. 21

Have you ever read the book "dead doctors dont lie", read it and think about the American health system which is far worse, it is just run by private companies that have great lawyers and people cant redress greivances against it because of money. Thousands of people die in our hospitals and by misdiagnosis every year in the United States. We are almost the worst of 30 industrialized nations, behind TURKEY. So, we should think about our problems, not an isolated incident which we can all pull up about healthcare somewhere in the world.

How do you feel about the socialist handling of the economic crisis?

I'm an independent, and I'm probably not voting for McCain or Obama, so supporters, please don't jump down my throat for insulting our present or any possible future administrations.

I want to know how people are feeling about the socialist-minded takeovers of so many large financial establishments recently. Personally, I don't think there has been much in the way of options, but I'm not too happy being the one that will foot the bill for this.

As I understand it, the republican party is about deregulation and small government. Well, it was Phil Gramm's deregulation that helped cause this meltdown, and now we've bailed out yet another one. The government just threw us $85 billion further into debt with the bailout of AIG, and taxpayers will be seeing the bill for that one. On top of that, the "small government / dereg" plan has now completely backfired, with our government having stake in multiple influential institutions.

For those of you (Independents, republicans, democrats, it doesn't matter) that accuse Obama of being a socialist, where do you stand on the recent course of events? Will you defend them as a necessity to prevent depression? Or do you see hypocrisy in the matter?

As I said, I don't really like Obama and will not be voting for him, but it terrifies me that McCain had Phil Gramm - one of the main causes for our current situation - as an economic adviser for such a long time. I can't imagine this getting a great deal worse, but I don't see how continuation of current policies would make it any better.

Serious answers only, please. I have not insulted you, please do not respond to insult me.

Disgusted. I really believe that if you make a choice to do something stupid you should get the chance to learn from that mistake. Well, in America if you choose to spend more than you make--those who don't will get taxed at a higher rate to bail you out. It's just crazy and I cannot see one valid reason for the bailout. Why keep a company that cannot accept fiscal accountability in business? Why not reward those companies who are not strung out quite so far with the valid customers these people currently have, and let the rest loose whatever they could not afford to begin with.

Tough questions from IFA about hotel project « The Peoria Chronicle

In January, hotel developer Gary Matthews appeared before the Illinois Finance Authority (IFA). According to their website , The IFA “is a self-financed, state authority principally engaged in issuing taxable and tax-exempt bonds, making loans, and investing capital for businesses, non-profit corporations, agriculture and local government units statewide.” The IFA is subject to the Open Meetings Act, so their agendas and minutes are public information.

The IFA’s proceedings give us a bit of insight into what lenders and other governmental bodies may think about the proposed downtown hotel project. It looks like the concerns are more than just the economic downturn:
