I saw the position on careerbuilder this past week. It states they give a "generous" base salary and on some of the board here Ive seen they are commission only. Which one is it. I am considering quitting my current dead end job but want to make sure I have security. I am a recent college graduate with sales experience.....If you are currently working for Merrill Lynch or similar investment firm I would appreciate some clarification...Thanks
Hey, I'm a broker.
If you do it, remember that the Salary will slowly diminish after a year or so, and will need to be replaced with your commissions.
Your job will be, basically, to call people all day long and talk to them about their money and try and set appointments with them to get them to invest.
Cold Call Cold Call cold Call
It is a tough job, and requires a lot of work.
Good Luck

I'd shop around if I were you.
Here's a few to start with. Remember to be patient... it may be a long while until things start looking better. :-)
Raymond James Financial Services (281) 647-0000 - 17171 Park Row, Houston, TX
Bell Charles Stocks Bonds & Mutual Funds (281) 345-6659 - 7058 Lakeview Haven Dr, Houston, TX
Edward Jones Investments (281) 580-9828 - 15302 Stuebner Airline Rd, Houston, TX
I hope that helps.
I would be interested in the financial backround if it will pay with a base salary sufficient enough and has extra bonuses. I don't want to be working monster hours! I am currently a paralegal with my Real Estate license as well... I want to get into a good career with steady stable hours and one that I can be rewarded for my extra work that I choose to do. I want to work in an office, not at home. Can anyone tell me if they have done this in Houston or the Woodlands, Texas, and how it turned out? I need to know if it is a good idea to get into this, or not. I need to make at least $25,000 base salary. Thanks all.
It's a tough business to get into these days as in all commission jobs. If it does pay a salary, it will be a small one and not for a long period of time. Those financial sales jobs generally dont keep you if you dont bring in the sales. Good luck.
I've been offered two interviews for two separate banking/financing companies. First Investors as well as Ameriprise Financial.
I've checked salary.com and to no avail came up empty handed. I was wondering if you or do you know of anyone working in this industry and if so do you know what entry-level may expect as far as salary. Also, do you have any idea about how much one has the potential to make?
I'm also located in Houston, Texas.
TIA.
dont expect much of a salary at all, its mainly commission, or all commission, you may get a small salary as a base or maybe just at first, but alot of these jobs end up as pure commission, which can also mean you make alot of money if it works out for you, i know several people making well over 6 figures, but they are very good
I attended UH main campus for for 2007-2009, and I'm transferring to UH downtown this Fall. I currently have a Texas Grant Estimate and Undergraduate Tuition Grant at main campus, but they don't show up at UH downtown. Do they transfer later, or not at all?
I plan to go talk with a financial advisor on campus in a few days, but any info would be helpful, thanks.

FHA and VA Streamline Refinance (financial advisor jobs)
By james.snv
FHA streamline refinance and VA Streamline Refinance is the process of acquiring a new loan to substitute an existing loan or lease balance. In other words, it is the replacement of an on hand debt requirement with a debt obligation bearing diverse terms. If you have perfect credit, refinancing is at times a good way to get hold of a lower interest rate or to change a variable rate loan to a fixed rate. The most common customer refinancing is for a home mortgage. Refinancing is able to alter the monthly payments payable on the mortgage any way, either by altering the loan’s interest rate, or by varying the term to maturity of the loan. More hopeful state of affairs possibly will make smaller the overall borrowing costs. In most cases, refinancing is used in to improve overall cash flow.
