Can a Financial Advisor or Stockbroker get bonded? I currently have E&O insurance through my firm, but it will only cover so much. Would it be a good idea to have myself bonded? In this market and in this financial environment clients and individuals are quite nervous, and it can be a financial nightmare if a client comes after you for compensation of losses or possibly suing you. Would it be a good idea to protect myself as an individual and have myself bonded? Is it even possible to have myself bonded? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
yes but would the cost off set the risk -- you will have to talk to an agent to find out!!!
A personal financial advisor can make between $20000 to $3000000 a year based on experience and job performance. Learn about the salary and ...
He advised us to claim compensation and we did and won. We just got over 10,000 back. The financial adviser is now asking for 10 percent of our compensation saying that he is entitled to it. We did all the form filling and letter writing ourselves all he did was advise us to do it. Is he allowed to do this. He says that we agreed this before we commenced the process but we didn't.
Damn you're greedy.

I'm just out of college, and currently looking strongly into a career as a Financial Advisor. Ideally I'm looking for a non-cut-throat environment where the culture is honest and focused on helping clients as much as themselves...Having said that, this is a sales career where hard work and high pay go hand in hand, and there is a lot of competition. Naturally, each company I look at is claiming to be 'the best' for starting such a career, but it seems you probably won't know the truth until you're actually working for one of them. To sum up, I was wondering what specific companies people may have had experience with...bigger names out there include Smith Barney, Morgan Stanley, etc. One company that seems to be geared more towards selling insurance rather than investing is Northwestern Mutual. My major concerns are environment (as friendly and relaxed as possible), support/training, opportunity for advancement, career-outlook, compensation, etc. Thank you for any and all advice.
Morgan Stanley is probably your best best.

I know it's not ok to ask about the salary and such during a job interview, but what about a job like financial adviser or representative, where it may be commission only?
Yes, but make sure you ask the question in the right way. Don't just blurt out "so how much are you going to pay me?"
Instead, when they ask if you have any questions - Make sure you firstly ask a question about the culture at the company, or what it's like to work there, or maybe about the scope and responsibilties for the role. Then you can ask about money - but you could phrase it, for example, as "I'm unclear about how the commission system works exactly, could you give me some more details and maybe an example of what I could expect to earn?"
Why Does Everyone Hate Financial Planners Defending Advisors | My ...
Almost every personal finance blog out there (even the best of the best on my blogroll) hates on financial planners, financial advisors, investment advisors, etc., but I don’t understand all the expressed hatred. A financial advisor could be very useful for those that need help, despite all the negative information out there.
Before even starting, I will concede that there are bad apples out there that don’t care nor understand the basic tenants of financial planning . However, that being said, I spent an entire semester in law school taking ethics and learning about lawyers that didn’t act appropriately (and the New York Law Journal goes over Attorneys on a daily basis that get disbarred). Fine…fine…maybe those aren’t examples, but what about Doctors acting unethically , teachers who cheat , secretaries who commit fraud, and who the hell hasn’t felt completely ripped of when an auto mechanic tells you that your flux capacitor is dead. Oh yeah…can anyone say enron, worldcom and Arthur Andersen.
