The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. Other online resources are salary.com and payscale. Your salary will also depend on your educational qualification and how you handle your career. I have taken the screening tests at UBS and I have been to an interview. I am still waiting on a call back. I know someone who works there and they said that they typically match the salary that you are making now. She said that she has seen it matched fairly high (more than 60K). After you earn your licenses, you go through a series of stepdowns in base salary until you are straight commision. I hope this helps! :)
The type of firms I am talking about are CDO / CLO adviser firms, Hedge Fund's etc. Financial Adviser type firms. thanks,
there are a few different things that you have to keep in mind. in NYC the average seems to be 55k-60k and that is with apx 2-3yrs previous experience within the same industry. less experience falls in the 50-55k range... also keep in mind that within Financial Services, a lot of companies pay a bonus on top of that. so total comp (base+bonus+OT) would be around 65k-70k.

Obviously, if you work during retirement, you’ll be earning money and relying less on your retirement savings–leaving more to potentially grow for the future and making your savings last longer, as shown in the chart below:
If you continue to work, you may also have access to affordable health care, as more and more employers are offering this important benefit to part-time employees.
But there are also non-economic reasons for working during retirement. Many retirees work for personal fulfillment–to stay mentally and physically active, to enjoy the social benefits of working, and to try their hand at something new–the reasons are as varied as the number of retirees.
