If you are a Young Professional how would you like to meet your Financial Advisor for the first time?
Advisory SERVICES

Not just in the initial meeting but how would you search for them?

I would educate myself on Finances. Each Financial Advisor I've ever met, after a few questions, it becomes obvious they know very little about finances. This is a nitch occupation without much depth or worth to it. If you really want to know what to do, learn economics & accounting.

Example: These are the same people that in early 2000 were still telling people to invest in the Stock Market. However, it was completely obvious that it was time to move money to Bonds in the middle of 1999.

Example 2: These are the same people that insisted that Real Estate was a great investment and that you should actually use interest only loans and ARMS to get into the market. They were still saying this in 2006.... when parts of the country were already falling and it was completely obvious the entire market was collapsing.

Example 3: These are the same idiots that haven't a clue how to invest in Gold or other commodities, or Real Estate, within your IRA accounts.

I'm 49, a successful financial advisor, and very unhappy with my professional life. ?
Accounts Management Al-Hadeed Consultants

I have a great life with my wife and kids. I just hate what I do for a living. I'm a horse enthusiast and lover of the western lifestyle and think I'd like to work in that field, but it just doesn't seem like a "real job". I've run several companies successfully....any ideas?

I understand, but a job is what you have to do, your family is your reward. You know how businesses work, so look for yur market first. Being a successful FA must mean you can sell, so set up your horse business as a side line and sell, sell, sell!!

any professional financial advisers out there?

is buying stock in EMC a good short term investment?
i've been doing research on it and i think its good, but i'm only 16 and its just a project for my fin. management class so i'm not really that confident in my judgement yet

There is no such thing as a good short term investment. All short term investments are a form of gambling just the same as going to Las Vegas. I am a professional investment advisor. See my credentials below

These professional get paid by telling you what to invest. Why don't they do it themselves if they are so good at investment?

an excellent question! i think what you are asking is, why do financial advisors have to work (i.e. shouldn't they have enough money so that they do not have to work?).

i think the short answer is that most advisors don't have enough money to retire, and therefore they have to continue working. or to carry this one step further, they are better at giving advice than following it. to take a simple example, let's say you had $1 million in assets and you could generate 10% a year in returns (well above the risk free rate and certainly more than the market is generating lately). That would generate about $100K per year in earnings. Many advisors are not capable of returning 10% a year consistently, or don't have a $1M in assets. Of the ones who do, they can often make multiples of this in the business (i.e. $200K-$1M per year), so it is easy to see the attraction. Reading this you may come to the conclusion (as others have before you) that the investment industry pays a lot in fees for little or no value added return. That is the subject for another day!

How much would you be willing to pay for an extensive background screening for a financial advisor?
Finance - FINANCIAL SERVICES Al-Hadeed Consultants

This would cover background checks on an individual including:
- bankruptcy check
- criminal and civil check
- credit check
- better business bureau check
- securities/exchange commission check
- checks with federal, state and private agencies
- state securities department check
- dept. of insurance check
- professional license check
- financial industry regulatory authority check

What would this background screening be worth to you?

$30 for 3 years of unlimited background check is all I HAVE PAID.

I already have a subscription at http://www.netdetective.com/ - it's $30 for 3 years and the largest database out there (3.1 billion records) with unlimited searches for 3 years.

It's the best site out there, used by private investigators all the time.

I would never pay more than that and what's great is you can use it over and over for 3 years for no extra.

In the pursuit of financial success there are certain milestones that one must reach in order to track progress and advance to the next level.  En route to the next level we often need assistance in various areas, typically areas where we have little to no expertise. Even when we do have some working knowledge of a particular item, we often need to enlist the help of a more specialized and seasoned professional to expedite our journey.

In terms of achieving financial wealth, it will be extremely beneficial to you if you inquire, if not hire, a seasoned Financial Advisor.  A Financial Advisor is a certified professional who provides investment advice and financial planning services to people like you, businesses, and also the government.
