Standard Bank Credit Card

There is alledgedly a standard letter to write to banks and credit card companies who have deducted or applied ecxessive charges for late payment. by late payments I am talking about payments being made and only a day or 2 late. Either cheque or by electronic transfer. I'v heard of one guy who wrote to a credit card company complaining and threatening legal action, who received an offer of £1k due to the company excessive charging. Apparently even if the banking / credit card conditions clearly express the charges. there is still an option to challenge on the actuall cost to the company of collecting late payments against the late payment charge cost to customers?. Can anyone expand and possibly advise on standard letter to reclaim late payments.

Your right, they have been found guilty of profiting from the charges which is not allowed - the charges are only supposed to cover admin costs.

they have all of the default letters & the forum has a section for each bank so you can see how other people are getting on with the bank you are trying with.

We just got £1300 back about 4 weeks ago. This is £100 less than we asked for. You can claim back any charges in the last 6 years & if it goes to small claims court you can claim back interest too. Anyway it's all on the site.

I want full details about getting a credit card, I have no pervious credit nor bank account (No credit history)...so what you recommend me? Standard Credit Card or Secured Credit Card? And what things I will need to pay for? I should have a minimum amount of money as bank account? What to do if card expired? What are other fees like ATM ones? Get a "Credit Builder" VISA Credit Card from Bank of America., it cost you $39.00 a year for the first two years. go to any Bank of America branch and tell them you want to apply for a regular VISA, once they rejected you on that one, their Credit Builder VISA kicks in. You'll get ONLY a $500.00 Credit Line, and you can't ask for more since this a credit builder card. On the one year anniversary, based on your performance, Bank Of America will increase your Credit Line to $1,000. and Again, you CANNOT ask for increments.

I think you should keep the statements as long as you have a big ticket item still being used in your home. Examples would be a computer, stereo, television...any item you may have to prove you purchased or it's cost.

First it was silver, then gold, now it now seems the platinum is the standard credit card. There is no longer any prestige colored card. Why have banks done that?

With some companies such as American Express, Gold and Platinum still mean something. But with a lot of other cards it has become more of a marketing campaign. With a lot of people who have standard credit if they got offered a regular card or a platinum card they would go for the platinum card because it sounds better.

The new "Platinum" is the "Black" or "Signature" cards that have no limits and give you a lot of services that others don't. But in another 10 years or so those will become the standard and there will be another prestige card.
