My fiance's dad opened a household bank credit card in his name and now we are trying to get this resolved. Does anyone know how Household Bank works and about their fraud prevention. It seems as though their website does not say much and there are a lot of complaints online about them as a company. Any information about them would be appreciated.
Consult an attorney because this is "identity theft" if his father opened this account without your husband's consent. You might want to act on this fast before the charges on that card add up.

yes my husband has a credit card thru them and they give you small limits (like $300) charge high fees and refuse to give credit increases even though we pay in full every month. but they are most likely upset because we dont carry a balance with their high intrest right. best bet is to go thru you local bank you do all of your checking thru
hope my answer is useful

I recently got a Household Bank credit card in order to help build up my credit score. I have only used the card for small purchases and have paid off the balances for 2 months (the amount of time I've had the card) but no payments have shown up on my credit report as of yet. I was under the impression that Household Bank reported to the credit bureaus every month. Does anyone know when the payments might show up?
The report says you have the card and all the info about loan type and terms etc. and only when you don't pay or a late payment do they report it. The credit report is not an accounting balance sheet. Every month the credit reporting agencies get bad debts for the information to build credit reports. Once you have a good report, they don't need to keep reporting every time you write a check already.

It's in AZ. Our account was charged off 1/2001 and someone called today claiming to be from a lawyer's office, and said the statute of limitations was ending at the end of the year and they were trying to collect. I did call HSBC and they said the application was not an agreement and it's considered open, but I am not sure he completely understood me. I spoke with an attorney and he said that is considered written cause of the application. It is my presumption that written ones are more like auto loans where they show you your monthly payment and all the terms and then you sign it. Any information would be great!
Thanks!
It will depend on the state you live in, whether it's written or open. It's a grey area in many states, but most of them are considered open or oral.
Naturally, you are not going to get a straight answer from the creditors. It's to their advantage to consider it a written contract because the statute of limitations is much greater.
I wish I could give you a good site to check. I recently helped someone try to find out this same question in Ohio. Can't get a good answer.
At least here in Michigan it's more clear...it's open.

Insured ATV stolen but HSBC ruins credit, no payoff : HSBC Complaints
Not wanting to get my husband in trouble and because my kids were so happy when they got home to see it, I contacted the dealership and advised them of my displeasure at how it had happened but would keep and pay for it.
In 2001 I paid off the lowest card and that left a balance of only approx 1500.00 on the other card. In October 2001 it was stolen out of the garage where we were renting and I called to let them know, faxed 3 or 4 police reports to that effect and asked for the insurance I had been paying for on it to cover the loss, they advised it would be taken care of.
Then I started receiving notices of payments late etc. repo agencies looking for the four wheeler etc. have battled it for years, they finally took it off my credit to turn right back around and put it back on.
