My credit card balance is over 50%. How long will it take my credit score to go back up?

Hi. I recently just got my first credit card ever and used it to make a $1600 purchase. The credit limit is $3000, so obviously I'm over 50% of the balance, and I just learned that's bad for credit scores. I expect to be able to pay off the purchase in the next two or three months. Will my credit score go back up immediately after I get the balance on my card down, or will it take a while? Thanks.

Once your percent gets to below 30% of your available credit, you will see improvements. They lower the percentage, the higher your potential score is.

What is the best credit card company to go through is you have no credit?

I'm wanting to get a credit card, just to buy gas or something on every month and go ahead and pay it off that month, just so I can start in a small way to build my credit. I haven't been able to find ANY credit cards online that will approve me. I have NO credit whatsoever. I just recently turned 18, so I haven't really had the chance to build it. Any suggestions on how or who to go through to get approved?!

if you are a student, many banks will work with you to establish credit. open you a checking account, give you a credit card with a low limit (like $500-1000) as long as you can prove student status. Or your parents can sign on a new credit application with you if they have a fairly good score and you can get a head start using theirs as a jumping off point (they can even set a low limit if it makes them feel more comfortable). Your smart to start right away, so you have credit history when you need a car loan, are ready to buy a home, etc... just remember it isn't a toy. it a responsibility, a privledge, but not a right. dont abuse it.

If pending charges on my credit card make me go over my credit limit will i be charged fees?

I have pending charges on my credit card account which will make me go over my credit limit by 1 dollar. If i make a payment before they are no longer pending charges will i still be charged fees and will my APR go up?

Pay it before it's due and call the company to make sure it went through before due date and i think you will be fine. Don't get your card to the max limit ever...Spend only half of what is worth and you won't have the problem..Disipline babe, disipline.

How do you go about consolidation on past credit card debts?

I have some credit card debt from the past. I hear that if you wait a few years you can take the total off all your debt and combine it and pay like half the price and make payments to get it paid off and off your credit report. Is this even true? If so, how do I go about this? Exactly how many years do I have to wait? Thanksss!

the only way to get a good credit record is to pay all your debts in full.

How many point does/can your credit score go up by paying a credit card off that is maxed out?

I heard that you credit score would go up anywhere for 30-40 point if you pay a credit card off that is maxed out (if the balance is over a 1,000.00) Is this ture?? And if not does anyone know about what it would go up?

The credit will go up but it depends upon your credit report. It will definately go up over time. You should pay all your bills in full and on time and do not carry any balance.

I understand that you are trying to save up every penny you have. I understand that like most Americans, you were hard-hit by this economic recession, and right now, tightening your belt is the best way possible.

I understand that in searching for credit card offers , focusing on key adjectives “cheap,” “affordable,” “low interest,” is a must because of your financial situation. You think that as long as its interest rate is low, it would be the card for you. Never mind all other features.

Okay, that part is something that I do not understand. You should never think that you do not deserve the best credit card in the market. Because no matter what your financial standing is right now, your wallet only deserves the best credit card in its compartment.
